Blessings to you all!
School. Whew! It's a lot of work. So why do it again? Learning never ends. The real question is what are we learning? God created us to learn, grow, share what we've learned, and then learn some more. I've often said "you can't give what you don't have." Whether we learn in a formal classroom setting, on-line (be careful), church, classes at work, or from a wise mentor or community sage, we should always look to expand our body of knowledge. It's never easy. It's time consuming, can be costly and even aggravating, but once achieved, no one can ever take away your knowledge. Knowledge is a tool to be used for the good of humanity, not only for self gain. However, knowledge without Divine wisdom can be extremely dangerous. Many with knowledge have used it to control, manipulate, and abuse others. Yes, even among believers, it happens. One must submit whatever is learned to the Spirit of God and be led by Him for instruction on how to use it. If formal training is not your thing, just read a book(s). Don't read well? Try audio books. Want a good book reading suggestion? Yep, you guessed it....the Bible. There you'll find 66 books. Love stories, thrillers, drama, action stories, history, poetry, proverbs, and books about the future ( but not the Jetson's version). If you're not seeking and controlling what you learn, trust me there is a vile spirit who will seek to control what you learn. He'll do it through the T.V. and other media, or even the common community, church or around the office gossip. By the way, some say life and experience is the best teacher, but really, many never learn from their experiences. I know the best teacher. Check out Mark 11:29.

TMI is doing well. I recently realized that God has blessed us with ten (10) ministers, not counting Pastor Dena and I. Wonder what God is up to! Pray for us, we're praying for you.
Pray also for God's Will and Grace as I begin to serve as an Adjunct Professor with Strayer University here in Atlanta.

Greetings in our Lord's great name;
It's graduation season and so I would like to send congratulations to all who are graduating from schools. Well done. I especially would like to congratulate Kendrick (DJ) Allen and Kierra Waldron on their graduation from high school. Both plan to attend college in the Fall and I'm sure you will join with me in praying for their success. Alexandria Hawkins graduated with her Master of Divinity degree from the School of Theology at Virginia Union University, go Dria! And Crystal Stevens graduated from Emory University, Candler School of Theology, with a Master of Theology degree AND Jurist Doctorate (Law) degree from Emory Law School. Simply Awesome! Again, congratulations to all graduates, certainly including those I have not mentioned here. We all celebrate your achievements and pray for nothing less than an awesome future for you all. If you know of anyone graduating, give them a big hug and be sure to pray for their future success. I also want to congratulate Rev. Joy (Haynes) and Tareem Hill on their recent marriage. What an awesome couple. It was our joy to officiate and celebrate that great moment with them. Joy will also be attending the School of Theology at Virginia Union in the Doctorate of Ministry Program this Fall. Join with me in praying for this awesome couple. Tareem is a deeply loved and highly respected Navy Officer and Joy serves as a military Chaplain.
Congratulations to you all!
Don't forget, Pentecost Sunday is coming up in a couple weeks. Pray for an incredible outpouring of the Holy Spirit on God's people. If you have not received the baptism of the Holy Ghost, pray and our Lord promises to "give the Holy Spirit to those who ask." I'll say more about this next time. For now, know that you are loved and I pray for you always. God bless you all!

Greetings in the wonderful name of our Lord;
What do you think? Would the world be any different if you were not in it? Do ever wonder why you are in it? Ever sometimes wish you weren't? You're not alone. People from every walk of life sometimes ask the same questions. When it seems that years are going by and it's hard to see any real positive change, we often begin to give into the belief that..."that's just the way things are," or "I just don't have that special something to make a difference," or how about "that's the way it's always been." Well, the choice is yours. Whose report are you going to believe? Can you believe that God not only can, but will do something so big in your life that all will know it is obviously from God? It seems so hard, but it really comes down to what you choose to believe. If you can believe that God wants to do something huge for, in, and through you, then pray as if you are expecting it to happen. "Ask, and it shall be given..." remember those words of Jesus? It really would have been anti-climatic if Jesus died and rose for our sins, as wonderful as that is, only to not permit greatness for our Heavenly Father's children. But BIG things can't happen on our terms. It must be in God's Will and according to His purpose. He alone determines what BIG looks like. But when it comes, you will know it. So ask God...LORD, do something so BIG in me that everyone will know it is from you, and use what you do in me to be a major blessing to many others, AMEN! Trust God! Trust Him, He loves you so very much. Even if you don't feel like anyone else loves you, He does and He wants great things for your life.

Blessings all;
Are you a person of influence? By definition influence means an "ethereal flow," flow from the stars or heavenly flow. It is an unseen power that can draw people to follow, change behaviors, change ideas or beliefs. It can and does have the power to change the course of other people's lives. While many spend their time trying to impress others, the most effective people are not concerned with impressing but with influencing. In 1937 Dale Carnegie wrote "How to win friends and influence people." That book has sold over 15 million copies over the years as people have sought to learn the power of influence. It is a power that can be used for Godly reasons or evil. Adolf Hitler won the election to become the head of the Nazi Party by just one vote and look what happened. What if that one voter would have been influenced differently? Modern history would be very different. Have you noticed? Satan did not make Eve eat the forbidden fruit, he simply influenced her, then she influenced Adam, though he clearly knew what God required. Wow, look what happened to the world when just two people were influenced negatively. Good leaders are those who positively influence their staff in such a way that the staff wants to work hard. Other leaders use their position, title and power over the staff to make them work, with the threat that employees could lose their jobs if they don't perform.
Jesus, our King, makes no one come to Him and serve Him. He invites us, loves us, provides for us, and protects us. His Divine, authentic, Godly influence is what draws many to Him. In Matthew 5:13, Jesus declares that we, believers, are the salt and light of the earth. As such we are to go into all the world and "draw" all unto Him. In other words, influence others, with our testimony, our witness, our lifestyle, our genuine love and compassion, in such a way that they will seek after our Lord Jesus. Who do you influence in your world? In what way, goodness or worldliness? Are you more likely to build people up or tear people down? Do you make it a habit to speak well of others, even the ones you don't like, or speak ill of them? What did Jesus do? Whether you know it or not, you have influence. The question is what kind and for what cause? Jesus said, "if the salt loses its saltiness, it is good for nothing but...." Lord, give us influence, a divine heavenly flow, but let it be all for You!

Greetings Saints;

I wanted to share a couple pictures from our Circle-Up event we held in support for Haiti. It was an amazing event. It got off to a strange start. We had a sound system out in the parking lot, a Gospel rap artist, and a great number from the church and community. However, it was cold and windy. We had "4 Haiti" spell out on the ground in candles and the people formed a circle around the candles. The wind kept blowing out the candles and the first few times the plane flew over with the photographer, it was light outside and, well, the candles kept going out. After a while the plane had to go back to land because the photographer was becoming ill. We thought they had gotten the best pictures they could and were done. Some people had begun to leave when we got word that the plane was taking off again to take a few more pictures. The photographer was feeling better. We got the candles lit and everybody (who was left) to form the circle. And, wow, the wind stopped blowing as the plane flew over. It was dusk, making for an interesting contrast. The pictures from the ground and air turned out fantastic. After it was all done, the wind began to blow again, but praise God, we got what we needed. All the proceeds went directly for Haiti relief. I am so grateful for those who worked so very hard to make this event a reality and for everyone who participated. Please continue to pray for and support Haiti. They will need both for a very long time. If I am able to bring those pictures to you soon, I will. Some will also be posted on the TMI website.
Our prayers are with Rev. LaVerne Stevens and the Joseph Alliance missions team who are now in Liberia, West Africa. We are trusting that nothing less than amazing things will happen because of the work our Lord has sent for them to do. We're believing for their protection, effectiveness, and safe return.

Hey Saints,
Missed you last week. Rev. D and I had homework and two tests to do, in addition to all the other "normal" activities and, well, you get the picture. Worship services have been so blessed. We remain in awe of the things our Lord continues to do. We're excited because this weekend we will have our Circle-Up event. This is an event where a large number of people from all over the ATL metro area will come together and form a human sign in support of the people of Haiti. Thanks to the efforts of Annette Vick, along with the assistance of John Russell, we will have an airplane fly over our church parking lot to photograph the human sign. Each participant is asked to give at least two dollars to be a part of the sign. All the money will go to Haiti relief. It promises to be a great time for a great cause. Please continue to pray for Haiti. They will need so much help for years to come.

The final document for TMI's Strategic Plan has come back and wow, the level of professionalism and excellence is great. This plan will serve as our road map for the next ten years. An awful lot of prayer and hard work has gone into this process, but certainly this plan is under the ultimate authority of the Holy Spirit, who may alter or change it at anytime. This plan however, will give us a great sense of direction and purpose as we move forward. Many thanks goes to Rev. Gwendolyn Young of Richmond, VA who has so graciously facilitated this process. If anyone is ever in need of strategic planning, I highly recommend her.

Two thumbs up to our Training, Education and Development (TED) department, along with the Youth department, for outstanding Black History presentations throughout the month of February. Outstanding work! There are more exciting things happening so please keep TMI in your prayers as we continue to expect our God to do great things.

Over the last couple of weeks we have given sermonic focus to the need and blessing of wisdom. God has dealt with us mightily, and it has been great to see folks crying out to God for divine wisdom. I certainly don't have space here to go through those teachings, but let me encourage each of you, wherever you may be in the world, James chapter one says: if you lack wisdom, ask God and He will give it to you without finding fault with you. It is impossible to fully know the will of God, the word of God, or how to live as a child of God, without wisdom. Seek it, cry out for it, and God will give it to you. But ask, only if you believe God will give it to you, and be prepared to be misunderstood by many who are not seeking and increasing in the wisdom of God. It will require patience and endurance, but God will use you to bless even them in a mighty way. Proverbs eight declares that wisdom (Sophia) calls out for you. Find her, and when you do, you will have found something far more precious than all silver and gold.

Hey Saints;
Here in the southern U.S. we've been getting a lot of rain and our friends to the north have seen lots of snow and/or freezing cold. I think everyone is ready for summer. For some of you in other parts of the world, it is summer and we hope you are enjoying it, but we here are ready to trade seasons with you. Our prayers and resources continue to go out to the people of Haiti. Here at TMI, we will soon launch a project called "Circle Up" that will bring together people from the surrounding communities to form a huge human sign (formation) in our parking lot. A local news helicopter will fly over and take aerial pictures of the formation which will be aired on T.V. Each participant in the formation, which will be a part of this human sign to show love and solidarity for Haiti, will give a contribution to participate. ALL proceeds will be given to a Haiti relief fund. No individuals will be shown, only the large group as a whole. The anticipated date for this project is Saturday, February 27th from 6pm to 8pm. Anyone in the ATL area is welcomed to join in. I would like to give special thanks to Annette Vick who is organizing this project. Haiti needs help desperately. I encourage you to be creative in how to raise money for Haiti. Remember the words of Jesus in Matthew 25:35-40; "For I was hungry and you fed me, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you took me in, I needed cloths and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.......what ever you did for one of the least of these my brothers of mine, you did for me."
True worship is not just our words, our shout or our dance, rather it's in the way we reach out to others in need or distress. We are so often preoccupied with our own issues that we fail to hear the cries of others in far worse conditions than our own. Serving God is serving others. God knows what we need and promises to take care of us if indeed we will do that which is important to Him, reaching out to help others and leading the lost to Christ. Make it your life's goal to serve others and God will bless you. You won't need to seek the blessings and favor of God, His blessings and favor will find you!
Well, TBN was great again. We thank God for Paul and Jan, Dottie and Carolyn for the invitations extended to us. Rev. Gardenia and I also received invitations to the Trumpet Awards. It too was a great experience. The awards show will be aired on TV One on the fourth of April. Thank you Shavonne. Oh yes! And our church sign has finally arrived and is up and, wow, it's nice. We saw it going into mid-week service and, wow, how it lit up the night sky. That's two wows! Thanks Elders Steve Stevens and Tim Young. Well, gotta go. Until next week, God bless you all. Hey Saints,
Missed you all last week. Did I mention that Rev. D and I are back in school again in another Master's program? I know, crazy huh? It's challenging, but good so far, and lots and lots of work. TBN has invited TMI-ATL back again like last time. We will be there this coming Tuesday, Feb. 2nd on the "Praise the Lord" program at 10:00pm and Wed. at 5:00pm. I recently shot a 30 second spot for Haiti also on TBN to be aired at random. I cannot urge you strongly enough to both pray and give to Haitian relief. What has happened is unimaginable. So many have lost their lives, the living have lost loved ones, and then there is the horror of being trapped alive and no one knows your there. Yet, I believe that this island nation, that so many have ignored for so long, will experience God's grace which far exceeds the tragedy. Can God get glory even out of such sorrow? Certainly He can and He will. We've all heard stories of rescues that were nothing less than miracles, and I'm sure there are thousands of others which have not made the news. But even in years to come we will see God moving mightily in Haiti. Like many of you, my heart goes out to them. TMI is pulling the community together in a project to raise much needed funds. I encourage you wherever you are to be creative and do the same. We can show the love of Christ in our sacrificial giving to those who need it the most. The bad economy has affected many of us. It has certainly affected our home. But no matter how hard the struggle, so many are suffering in ways we can't even imagine. So won't you please give, and I know God will indeed bless you.
I'll share some other things with you next week, but for now I ask that you will consider what you can do for Haiti. ".....when I was hungry you fed me, when I was naked you clothed me......as much as you have done this unto the least of these, you have done it unto me." God bless you all!

Saints of God,
I pray that this new year has been blessed for you thus far. This young year is filled with potential and possibilities that await us. While it is indeed a new year, new beginning for us, it is not new to God. He knows our end before the beginning. He has a plan ordered for us in this year. In our seeking Him, He will step by step, reveal that plan to us. Its in the seeking Him that His plan finds us. To acquire and achieve what is available to us, we must reach out in faith, and even faith must be rooted and grounded in what God has spoken in His word. I recently shared with the TMI congregation that often our faith, though sincere, is often fragile, if we were honest. Even the strongest believer may find themselves doubting or at least wondering if we are on the right track or whether we should move at all. So how can our faith find the strength to cause us to move in spite of the uncertainty? Paul's letters to the Galatians and Ephesians encourages us not just to have faith in Jesus but to have the faith of Jesus. We must remember that when Jesus came as a human like us, He had to operate by faith in the Father just like us. The book of Hebrews tells us that "without faith it is impossible to please God." It was not just Jesus's unwavering obedience that pleased the Father, it was His faith in what the Father said He would do. As a result Jesus spoke faith, then acted on faith. "No on takes my life but I freely lay it down, and if I lay it down I will take it up again." "Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up again." These are just two quotes of Jesus declaring the faith statements I will. His faith worked! He did die but He did rise again, evidence His faith worked. When we accept Christ, He by His Spirit lives within us. Therefore, so His faith lives in us. When our faith grows weak we call on His faith within us. His faith never fails! Paul wrote "when I'm weak that's when I'm strong." The strength of His faith dwells within. In Christ all things are possible!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Whew! We made it. Our great God has brought us through what for many was a very tough year...but we made it. We are grateful to God for the provision and lessons learned in '09. But now we step into 2010. I believe this is a pivotal year. Scripture reminds us of the Decalogue (Ten Commandments), the tenth that belongs to God of our increase (the tithe) and other examples of the number ten representing God's covenant with humanity. 2010 is a covenant year. A time to renew our commitment to God. God requires of us to be more than simple church goers. He desires us to live as covenant people in relationship with Him and determined to serve Him and advance His Kingdom. Unfortunately, many in the Body of Christ do not make living for our Lord their life's top priority. But God will not play second fiddle to anything or anyone else in our lives. He gave too much for this covenant. He gave His Son. His blood is too costly for us to place Him in a low place on our list of life priorities and pursuits. There is likely to be a further distancing of the "real church" from the culture driven church. Much of what is presented as "church" has little to do with an all out, sold out commitment to God. Where do you stand? Most seek the favor of God but fail to make a living covenant with Him our number one priority. This year is decision making time. Favor will come to those who diligently seek Him. Why then do so many seek their own glory, even while using His name? Seek Him first AND His righteousness and all other necessities and blessings will follow. Perhaps its time to stop trying to prove spiritual depth and simply fall in deep love with our King. Is this your year? I pray it is but perhaps it hinges on your investment of self in this great covenant with our King. He's waiting for you!
Don't forget to pray for TMI as we go to TBN Tuesday, Jan 5th. We are indeed grateful for their invitation and God's favor in this moment. Merry Christmas,
Yep, its Christmas already. For our friends in the northeast, U.S.A. who wanted a white Christmas, you really got it. Maybe you didn't want that much of it. We certainly pray that all are safe and even managing to take some time to enjoy the snow.
I was thinking about the song "Joy to the World," an old wonderful Christmas song of praise for the birth of Jesus our Lord. For those who believe, joy has come, but the world we live in is far from being a joyful place. One day it will be, but until then, it can be at times, a very scary place. That is why the joy of the Lord is such a wonderful gift, because it does not depend on external circumstances. Without the Lord, it is impossible to fully experience such joy. But not only was joy born to us two thousand years ago, but Grace was also born. More than unmerited favor, the grace of God has granted us access into the Holy place with Him and seated us with Christ in the heavens according to Eph. 2. Because of our new position we've be graced to receive all the spiritual blessings of the Father, the fruit of the Spirit to name a few. Grace has three major components: (1) Justification, (2) Sanctification and (3) Glorification. Justification happened in the past. When Jesus died and rose from the dead, we who would believe were counted as having right standing with God. Sanctification is a present reality. We are set apart from the world while in the world and are daily being shaped, conformed, transformed into the likeness of Christ. Its an ongoing process. Glorification is in the future to come when Christ returns and we are made perfect as He is perfect. We will lose these old bodies and receive glorified bodies that cannot get sick, sin or die. For us, this is what was born two thousand years ago in the person of Jesus our Lord, so joy to the world (at least to those who will believe) the Lord and His Grace has come!

Blessings all;
It is so hard to believe that we are so rapidly closing in on the conclusion of another year. What a good time to reflect on life's journey thus far. What has gone well, what not so well? What, if anything would you do differently? What have you learned about yourself? About God? About your journey? How has your story changed? Has your worldview changed? These are simple yet important evaluation questions that must be asked if we desire the future God has for us. Where you've been and where you are are clues to where your going. If we make no adjustments or radical change, in some cases, the future will only be more of the past. However, if you desire a different outcome or direction then different choices must be made. There is no magic in thinking on these things this time of year. Its just a good marker in time, an alarm clock, to do so. Many want "new levels" without a sober look at where they are. What it looks like depends on our vantage point. Do we see ourselves and our future as others do, from an earthly worldview, shrouded by the darkness of this world? Or do we see it all from the vantage point of heaven where, as the Apostle Paul declares in Eph. 2, we are seated with Christ in Heaven. This is a very different vantage point in which to see the world, its history and future and our place in it. Ask our Lord to help you see it as He sees it. Not as we want to see it but as He sees it. Then ask Him to help you live the life He has prepared for you so that your life will bring glory to His great name.
Rev. D and I had a great time meeting Matt Crouch (Paul & Jan's son) and many others at the TBN studio for a screening of Matt's new movie "The Preacher's Kid." Its their first with an all African-American cast. If it comes to your town, it is well worth seeing. Pray for and support this and other Christian productions and publications. It will help the Body of Christ reclaim the airways. Look for TMI-ATL's introduction, Jan 5, on TBN's Praise the Lord program.

Greetings and blessings to all;
For those facing tough times of any sort, ever wonder why your going through what your going through? Well, there may be any number of reasons and sometimes God is the only one who knows. One thing is clear, He knows. And if He knows, then He who loves us so much, desires to turn our struggle into victory for us and provide an avenue for Him to receive glory. But what if there was an easier way out? Not only out, but a way have wealth, power, fame and all your heart's desires? I recently saw a news program where the reporters were doing a random sample of people asking them what they most wanted. The answers? You guessed it, wealth, power and fame. Several admitted they would do almost anything to have it. They would ignore loved ones, hurt or back stab others, sell themselves, anything. What if you could have wealth, power and fame or whatever you dream of without having to compete with or hurt others? In fact, what if you could have it without working very hard to get it? There is a story of a man who was indeed offered all he wanted but the offer was made by Satan. The man thought hard and then said...:sounds to good to be true, what's the catch?" Satan's response was that the man would belong to him. The man thought it sounded like a good deal. He believed in God and believed in heaven and because he was a good man, felt certain he would go to heaven when he died, therefore this demonic deal seemed harmless. Oh, but indeed there was a catch. There is a Heaven, but also, there really is a Hell! Being a good guy or not believing there is a Hell will spare no one from it's reality. Many people, including Christian believers are confused about the issue of Hell. But its real and many are on a path there and don't even know it. Perhaps what your going through is God's way of getting our attention on Him. Perhaps its His way of purging us of things that do not please Him. Perhaps it is His way of training us to live victorious lives. Perhaps your going through what your going through because He loves you. Tough times cannot destroy you when you trust Him. Those times can only become your servant, for your good. God has a plan and purpose for your life and it does not include tough times but He will use tough times to help you reach your potential in life, in Him.

Greetings all;
I'm not sure if there has been any studies done to prove that those suffering from depression increases during the holiday season. Certainly during bad economic times there is great pressure on families during this time of year. What should be one of the more enjoyable times of the year is often a depressing time. However, regardless of the season, many suffer from depression. Saved and unsaved alike may have bouts of depression during certain seasons of life. Much of that may be driven by circumstances and experiences. Still others may suffer from more serious forms of depression which may be a result of physiological causes. No matter the source or cause, depression can be a debilitating experience. In its most severe forms it could lead to thoughts or even the commission of suicide. Clearly, our God wants us to experience joy in our lives, to be of good cheer, to be encouraged, to live life to the fullest. God is always ready to help, heal and deliver us from all of the maladies we experience in life. We ask and trust Him for the help we need and be ready to receive the help however God may choose to provide it. The issue is not what form the help comes in, but rather simply trusting God that help will come.

O give thanks unto the Lord, call on His name, make known His deeds among the people. Sing to Him, sing praises to Him, tell of all His wonderful works! (Psalm 105:1-2).
To our international friends, here in the U.S. we are celebrating Thanksgiving Day. Without going into the history of it, Thanksgiving is a day set aside to thank God for all His goodness, mercy, grace, forgiveness, kindness towards us. Its been interesting watching people in the stores buying food and other products for the Thanksgiving meal. The roadways have been jam-packed with cars and the airports crowded as people travel to be with loved ones on this day. Yet, while observing it all, I could not help but wonder how many of those, excited with preparation, were thinking of God at all? How many were thankful at all, and to who? Even in many of the homes where there are believers, often there is but one prayer on Thanksgiving Day and that is the prayer before the meal. And at that, many will complain if that prayer goes too long because filling our stomachs is more important than thanking the God who provided the food. Well, if not at meal time, do set some time aside to pray and thank God for all He has done for you. But, not only should we pray, but as the verse above reminds us: ".......make known His deeds among the people,.....tell of His wondrous works." Set time aside from food and football to TELL of His mighty works in your life. Then tell it again on Friday and Saturday and everyday, especially to those who don't believe or who need encouragement. The testimony of our lips may draw someone to Christ.
I am thankful to God for soooo much! I thank Him for my wife Gardenia, our families, I'm thankful for the wonderful people at TMI-ATL, FBC in Virginia, First African in Richmond and Macedonia in Pittsburgh, PA for helping me in my spiritual formation, and to all the wonderful people I have met in the U.S. and around the world. Each of you have in some way made me better. God bless each of you and let's give our Lord and King the thanks He deserves!

Greetings and Blessings to all;
Awesome! Simply Awesome! That is the best way I can describe the first TMI-ATL service at the new location in the Jonesboro, Riverdale, Fayettville area on GA Hwy 85. From the opening Praise & Worship, to the Dance Ministry, to a solo, to the Word and the explosive outpouring of the Spirit of God, it was evident that God was confirming and validating this new tabernacle. It was also clear that we will not tabernacle there for long. Even this new space will soon become too limited. I remain amazed and thankful at how those who are a part of TMI are working so hard and in such unity that we have seen the incredible favor of God. While there is still much needed in and for this physical location the members of TMI believe that God will provide. He does so through the prayers and generosity of many within, friends of TMI, and those who simply see and believe in the vision. God will continue to provide, even in these very difficult economic times.
The Strategic Plan is an aggressive plan but one that was developed with much prayer and hard work. The Intercessory Prayer Ministry will continue to lead in praying for the unfolding of God's plan. The Elders will give oversight and hold accountable those responsible for the completion of their part of the plan. There are specific target/completion dates through the next seven years. Most will be met on or before those dates. Some 2010 targets are already well on their way to completion.
The message for this first service in the new tabernacle came from the same passage used as the concluding message at the previous location. Exodus 40:36-38 was the concluding text at the prior location and Exodus 40:34,35 was the opening text for the new location. A tiny bit of the point of the message: When a cloud settles over the land we call it fog. Dense fog will cause you to not be able to see your way. It can be frighting. You have little control over where you can safely drive. When the cloud of God settles, its very similar. You have little control. It can become frightening when you have a need for control but have none. You become solely and completely dependent on Him to guide us. Smog is very similar except it is a man made cloud that when it settles over the land (as in some cities) its hard to see in front of you. In God's fog, when you breath, your breathing His glory. In man's smog, you breath man's poison. Unfortunately, many churches have created their own smog and declared it God's fog. They can't figure out why there is little anointing, so much back biting, so many factions and power struggles, few leaders praying together for the ministry and little spiritual growth. After a while the poison killing them becomes normal and if the cloud of God dare show, it is rejected as strange. Trust in the Lord with all your heart........and He will direct your path (even when you can't see your way in His cloud).

Greetings and blessings;
Missed you last week. Much has been happening. Some of you may have known Jennifer Worthams. She had begun attending TMI Atlanta. She also had visited First Baptist in Charlottesville a few times while visiting her dear friend Leonette Henderson. Jennifer lost her life a few days following a terrible car accident. A memorial service was held this past Sunday at Ebenezer Baptist (where Martin L. King Sr and Jr. once served as pastors). Her cousin is the youth pastor there. Her final resting place will be Los Angeles where she was raised. She was only 26 years old. Please pray for her family and boyfriend Billy and many others who are all grieving her passing.

A cross section of TMI leaders and members have just completed a six day (two weekends, Fri thru Sunday) strategic planning process. While there remains a few more things to finalize, the process already has proven to be well worth the effort. The process has helped in solidifying TMI's foundation and create a road map for ministry for the next one, three, five and seven years. We are grateful for Rev. Gwen Young of Virginia for her leadership in this tough but very fruitful process. I am also very grateful for all the participants for working into late hours on Fridays, as much as ten hours on Saturdays and over four hours on Sundays. Your commitment and input has been outstanding! Great fruit is already being manifested.

November 15th, this coming Sunday is when the first service in TMI's new location will be held. The site is being prepared, a dry run will happen this Wednesday, and services will begin Sunday. Not everything will be ready like decorations, window dressings, office furniture and even the podium for preaching may not arrive in time, but that's ok, we'll have church. Some decorations and furnishings will happen sooner than later and some will evolve over time. Pray that God's Glory will rest on the location and even more so, among the people who are members, yet to be members and visitors.

Greetings all;
I can't tell you how much joy it brings me to know we can touch through technology. Knowing you are on the other end of these blogs is a blessing to me. I pray these blogs are a blessing to you. Its amazing how simple, child-like trust in God is all God really desires from us. All else flows from there. In our world and postmodern culture there doesn't seem to be much in which we can trust. Governments, banking system, employers and sometimes even friends and family will let us down. Even in many churches, where we hope to find members and leaders who genuinely love and care for one another, we find power struggles, favoritism, malice, jealousy and even hatred. The T.V. is filled with shows about violence, crime and deceit which is often applauded. Growing up in that kind of world and environment its hard to trust anyone. Over time, with that mindset....well, is it any wonder that even among those who claim to be saved many don't really even trust God. Its easy to say we trust Him because that's what Christians are expected to say, but action speaks louder than words. Can we really say we trust God if we don't spend time seeking to know Him? If few, or if any, of our decisions for church or personal life are made without prayer and seeking His wisdom, can we really say we trust Him? If we believe we are so anointed, so educated or so self sufficient that we don't need to pray and humbly ourselves before Him, are we really trusting Him? The fact that we can choose, think and have spiritual gifts and talents are only because He gave it to us, but let's not forget, He who gave it can take it away. Its impossible to be full of Him if we are full of self and God will not compete with us for who we will be filled with. It comes down to simple, desperate, dependency on God that He will honor with His presence. Just Trust God!
I mentioned last time that TMI Atlanta will be moving to its new worship location soon. The first service there will be Nov. 15th. If you believe in this ministry then pray that God will do Great things as we are fully expecting He will do. What God has already done has been amazing so we know far greater things will be done. The new location will be at 1950 & 1960 Georgia Highway 85, Jonesboro, GA. However, that may not be the mailing address. For now the mailing address remains P. O. Box 38, Tyrone, GA 30290. As you might imagine, the needs are many. Sanctuary and pulpit furniture, office furniture and office supplies are a few of the needs. Praise the Lord! TMI-ATL is on the move. After just one year we are moving into a new worship facility. The blessings of our Lord continue to be great. On November 15th the first service in the new facility will be held. This new location is over three times our current space for worship. Adjacent to the worship space will be offices and classrooms and meeting rooms. Located on GA85, it is technically in Jonesboro but very near both Fayettville and Riverdale. The ministry field is very good. As you can imagine there is much that is required to be fully up and running. The purchase of chairs, tables and pulpit furniture to name a few. In addition there will be the need for office furniture and items for a nursery/childcare. If you would like to send a gift to help us meet these and other needs you may do so by sending it to Transformation Ministries International of Atlanta or TMI-ATL. If by check please indicate in the note section that the gift is for the purchase of furniture and equipment so that the gift will not be included in with regular gifts and offerings. Greetings and Blessings;

Recently I began a series on one of humanity's, including or especially Christians, biggest hindrances to a fulfilled life. An infectious disease that has caused the fall of so many. PRIDE.
I noted that there are perhaps three manifestations of pride. The first is the kind of pride a parent feels when their child excelled in something that they could not do before. Or the pride of a spouse when the other got the promotion. That kind of pride is fine unless the parent now feels that their child is better than any other and their child can do no wrong. Not good. The second kind of pride is the pride that causes someone to not reach out for help when they need it. Perhaps this is one of the reasons men tend to die sooner than women. Though sick, some men can't admit something may be wrong and by the time they see a doctor its too late. What's worse is when someone is having emotional or psychological concerns but won't get help for fear of others thinking they're crazy. The third pride is the pride of arrogance. When someone thinks they are superior to others, can do all things better than others, are brighter than others, are more sophisticated than others, even thinking themselves super spiritual with a false sense of humility, they are setting themselves up for a fall or worse, destruction. Pride can cause persons, families, churches, businesses and even nations to collapse under the weight of their on arrogance. Throughout Scripture we find warnings about the sin of pride. My opening text was from Daniel 4:28-37. Here King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon who saw himself as all sufficient and godlike had a lesson in pride. Prophesy was given to him concerning the lesson he would soon learn. As a result of the lesson the king became insane but in the end openly praised and worship the Lord our God and humbled himself before Him. Its always better to confront our own pride issues before our Lord loves us enough to confront it for us. That may not be pleasant at all. In 2 Chronicles 7:14, the Lord declares: "if my people who are called by my name would......" Then before He says .....If they would......pray, seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, He first said " If they would humble themselves." All else follows humbling ourselves. Full of pride and little or no humility? Then their is no need to pray. I admonish you with the sermon title "Lay the Pride Aside."

Greetings and Blessings,
Just a year or two ago there was widespread concern in Atlanta about a severe drought. There was talk of water rationing and there were states fighting over shrinking lake water to be used for drinking. Now as I write hundreds of roads are closed including major interstate highways, entire communities are under water and at least seven have died due to flooding. One video shows a home completely surrounded by water while burning to the ground. Just a few yards away in front of the burning home sits a fire truck.......under water. Today the flooding continues and in some areas has worsened while the sun shines bright, the sky a picturesque blue and the temperature just right. The irony of it all. Pray for those who have lost so much including loved ones and pray for those who need to get around but are trapped by so many road closings. God, abundant in grace will bring them all through.

While it is my desire to release a new posting each Tuesday, look for a special posting this coming Thursday September 24th. I want to devote that post to a topic that I believe will bless all who receive. Congrats TMI-ATL! God is so Faithful!

TRANSFORMING YOUR WORLD

Greetings and Blessings to you all;
Purpose, new level, new season, new dimension, breakthrough, prosperity, covering, destiny: just a few of the words popularized in the last decade or so in the Christian church. All important, all good, but all too often each has become the goal in and of themselves. Many celebrate with great exuberance when these words or phrases are proclaimed. Many wait on the edge of their seats for the moment when in the sermon these words are spoken so they can leap for joy at what they just heard. Some will go home disappointed if no mention was made of at least one of these words. When there doesn't seem to be much reason to be hopeful and when there is so much uncertainty, many people will grab at anything, even a phrase, and hold on for dear life. Some desire a new dimension but are not sure what dimension they are in, or even what a dimension is. Others seek a new level but have no clue what level they are on, let alone what the next one should be. New seasons are great when you know what season it is and have gleaned from all that season has to offer before going to the next. What ever happened to "seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you." Wouldn't it just be easier and more fruitful to seek God first since He alone holds our seasons, breakthroughs, dimensions, destiny? He is our ultimate covering, while in church people will fight over who should be a covering without knowing the order and the purpose of such. Our Lord is the better way. Prayer, fasting, thanksgiving, petition, supplication........seeking Him will answer all questions. When we make churchwide or personal decisions that seem good but we have not sought God, how can we expect to reach that next level? Hebrews 11:6 tells us that: "without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone that comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those that diligently seek Him." While those popularized words have their place, don't get lost in the hype. It's really not that difficult to understand, seek God with all your might and He will guide your ways.
Please continue to pray for the next worship location for TMI-ATL. Our search team is working very hard and others are praying hard, and we know that next place is soon on the way. We are grateful for a very informative finance workshop last week. Everyone was blessed. I thank Evangelist Katrina Cooks, host and presenter, Tim Young, Deputy Controller for Atlanta City Government, both members of TMI, and Emily Mowis, Senior V.P. for investments for SunTrust Banks. Great workshop.

TRANSFORMING YOUR WORLD

Has anyone ever paid you a compliment and you, perhaps unconsciously, rejected the compliment? For example: someone says "wow, you look like you're losing weight" and your response is something like, "well I feel fat. I need to lose a whole lot more weight." Or, someone tells you that your hair looks great but you tell them what's wrong with it. They say you sing well and you tell them how you felt like you were off. I have often been guilty of receiving a compliment badly. That was the general theme of a recent message I preached. When we reject a compliment we in essence are calling the person a liar or ill-informed. It may have taken someone a while to get the courage to compliment you and then we find some fault with the compliment. Perhaps it's because we feel uncomfortable with compliments or perhaps we don't want to appear proud or arrogant. Perhaps we know the flaws we have and just feel that if the one giving the compliment knew our flaws then they might have a different opinion. What happens then when God speaks a truth about us and that truth is a great compliment? 2 Corinthians 5:21 tells us that one of the great benefits of the death and resurrection of our Lord is that upon receiving Him we become the righteousness of God. Wow! We are declared by God as righteous! But when we look at our lives we don't often feel very righteous. We are all too aware of our flaws, challenges, past sins and current short-comings. Yet the Lord says we are righteous. Christ paid the price for our failings and does not hold them against us nor does He dwell on them as we do. John 16:5-11 teaches us that the Holy Spirit comes to convict the world of sin but also to convict (convince) believers of their righteous standing in Christ. We need not turn away God's truthful compliment, but rather receive it well. Why? For one, we don't want to be found guilty of calling God a liar when He declares us righteous and secondly, there are great benefits to becoming the righteousness of God. One wonderful benefit can be found in Psalm 37. "I once was young but now I'm old and I've never seen the Righteous forsaken nor their seed begging for bread." In rejecting your righteous standing with God you risk rejecting the supernatural provision of God. You and I realize that we are not yet perfect, but it is not our works or our self-righteousness that brings us in right standing with God. He has declared all our (self) righteousness is like filthy rags. But it is the blood of Jesus that makes us righteous in the sight of God. Receive human compliments with a hearty thank you. Receive God's compliment by living your new life as unto the Lord.
Pray for the people of Liberia and Sierra Leone. God is doing great things!

Greetings All;
Have you ever wondered what Jesus thinks about our religions, including Christianity? Are you certain that Christianity is the only proper way to receive salvation and to live out our faith? Make no mistake, I certainly don't believe that there are many ways to God and that Christianity is but one. But what is Christianity anyway? Well, I guess it might be defined by the brand of Christianity to which you may belong. Which one is right? Which one is the Lord most pleased with and influenced by? On what basis is He most pleased with yours, since I'm sure most think their brand is the best. Where does the Bible record Jesus as being Christian? Why do we make it so complicated? Lots of questions but few answers that would satisfy most. Maybe we're trying too hard in our own efforts. Is it really that important to be in the right denomination, in the right church, with the right pastor, with the right leadership team, with the right Bible translation, located in the right place? Or could it be that the answer lies in learning to simply love God back who gave {His} all to show {His} love for us? Absolutely, it is good to be in a good Bible teaching, believing church led by mature, Spirit-filled believers. However, at the end of it all, God's desire is that we be one in and with the Godhead (John 17:20-26). Seeking {Him} should be our highest goal. There we find the answers we seek. There we find our true selves. There we find completeness. Seek first the Kingdom of Heaven and His righteousness and.......

I am grateful to God for the outpouring of the Spirit of God at Bright Hope Baptist Church in Louisa, Virgina and for those who received what they were trusting God for. I am grateful to have been invited and to share those days with the people there. It was also wonderful to see a number of people from First Baptist Main Street in Charlottesville, Virginia who came to share. You are sorely missed. I pray God's peace and power upon Pastor Alonzo Minor of Bright Hope and his family. Thank you for the invitation, great accommodations and hospitality.

TRANSFORMING YOUR WORLD

Greetings Saints;
Remember that verse in Philippians 1:6, "being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus" ? I've been reflecting on this lately. Do you know what our Lord began in you or is the path your on one that circumstance, situations, people or something else has lead you into? How is God using you? Is He using you? Do you know? If you serve in a ministry, is it because you believe you should because its a good thing to do? Or perhaps its because no one else steps up to do it. But if you believe that God orders our steps, are you on the right path, road, lane? One way to know is to take note of the fruit, or lack thereof, in what your doing now. Is a difference being made? How do you know? Another way to know if your on the right path is that your work or calling in the Lord will be your greatest source of joy and sorrow. The apostle Paul, in his letter to the Romans says in chapter 8:17 (paraphrase) we will share is Christ's glory is we share if His suffering. Ministry has brought me some of the most joyful and most hurtful times of my life. For Jesus there was the suffering of the cross and the glory of the Resurrection and Ascension. These kinds of experiences are signposts along the way that let us know if we're on the right path. The most joyful and reassuring aspect of it all is the promise that God will see it (in us) to completion. If we will but seek and trust Him, God will perform His promise to, for and through us. He will complete the work in us if we will surrender completely to Him.
Please continue to pray for our search for the next worship space for TMI-Atlanta. Our current space is filling fast and we will soon need to move. However, as I stated a blog or two ago, our desire is to be where God needs us to be and not just where we would like to be. So pray for us in our search as well as for the continued resources needed to minister and do out reach near and abroad. The entire congregation is going through leadership training, including the youth. It is required training for leaders but voluntary for all others. It was a great joy to see nearly everyone wanting the training. The affects are already being felt and demonstrated in how everyone serves. Pray that this kind of desire will only grow so that we all can become even more effective in advancing the Kingdom of God here on earth. Know that Pastor Gardenia and I love you all so much. Greetings TMI and AARON'S BEARD partners and friends;
In Luke 12:3, Jesus declares "what you have said in the dark will be heard in the daylight and what you have whispered in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the roofs" (NIV). Often when we hear such lessons taught by our Lord we are inclined to think that He is only speaking of the revealing or publicizing of our sin. At some level this may be true for the unrepentant, habitual sinner. However, we must not dismiss the fact that God is not interested in remembering and exposing our sin. Rather, His concern is for our deliverance from sin and its penalty. Perhaps this text is going beyond that discussion to let us know that who and what we are in private will show up in our public life. Our private thoughts, attitudes, imaginations, language and habits of the smallest detail will, in one form or another, show up in our public life. In the life of Christ we can rest assured that who He was in private, is who He was in public. Anything else is hypocrisy. All have sinned and therefore all have played the hypocritical role. However, spiritual growth and integrity demands our giving attention to those private details so they do not negatively reflect the Christ we serve publicly. In other words, the negative gossip or foul language used in private may never be spoken publicly but the attitude or mind set that spawned such talk will be revealed in spite of one's attempt to hide it. Private does not just imply time alone with someone else but includes when its you alone. The careless way someone may discard something clogging their nose when no one is around will be reflected in a callous disregard for others space in public. You get the picture. Who and what you are with your family, children, peers, handling of finances, etc., in private will be seen by others in public. Why was Jesus so powerful in teaching, preaching, miracles, healings in public? Because He spent significant time in prayer in private. Often He would leave the crowd, go to a solitary place to pray. Be consistent. Strive to improve yourself, not just in the big things like money, education, position and so on. But, even more so, strive for excellence of character in the small private things and the Lord in whose eyes day and night are the same, will exalt you in due season.

Greetings TMI & Aaron's Beard Partners and Friends,

Praise the Lord we are back from a most wonderful missions trip to Liberia, West Africa, sponsored by Dr. LaVern Stevens, founder of the Joseph Alliance. I don't have space in this blog to even begin to convey the lessons learned and the grace to have seen the hand of God move in such a wonderful way. Over the years I have been blessed to travel to several nations for missions work. Each have been unique in their own way. The world and it's many cultures and people, is an exciting and eye opening place in which to minister for Christ. Each time I go I believe I come back far more enriched than those with whom we seek to share our gifts. Liberia is a nation on the rebound after a fourteen year civil war and great fear and uncertainty for a number of years before the war. The people are wonderful but in need of much, especially education. Everywhere we found young people hungry for education. Much of the school system was damaged or destroyed by war. Praise God for the teachers who serve but there is a great need for many more trained teachers and administrators. Part of our team provided teacher training at the Lott Cary School in Monrovia. The presentations were excellent, practical and very well received. Future teacher training is being planned. A psychologist, Christopher Townsend, plans further study on the affects of the the trauma of war on the culture but particularly the youth. The clergy on our team provided pastoral and church leadership training. The church community is perhaps the strongest and most influential body in the nation. While they are very gifted and capable, they also desire additional training to be more effective in the great work to which God has called them in the context of very difficult times. Prices for everything is high, higher than most places in the U.S. The official unemployment rate is near 85%, although most are finding some way to put food on the table. And then there is the concern over what happens in three years when there will be a new presidential election. In the midst of it all, the church stands as a beacon of hope for the future of Liberia. We are developing partnerships through Transformation Ministries and Aaron's Beard (mentoring for clergy) with church's and pastors there. Pray for the beautiful children we met in two orphanages and pray for the young former rebels who had been forced into becoming child soldiers (killers). We were blessed to meet some like Tommy, who are now saved in Christ and desire education and a life in service of our Lord. Especially keep our Liberian host in your prayers, Rev. Emil Sam-Peal. A man who has made unimaginable sacrifices to bless the people of Liberia, particularly in the area of education and ministry. He was a most gracious and wonderful host who really took good care of us while there.
I will be completing a reflection paper in a few weeks once I have processed the experience in my own mind and spirit. I will make it available when complete, by request, at no cost. Blessings and greetings in the the name of our King Jesus,

Have you ever traveled on an international missions trip? If not, let me encourage you to get a passport and seek the Lord for an opportunity to live out the divine mandate to "go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to every creature." You have spiritual gifts, skills and abilities given by our Lord that could be used to transform lives in other parts of the world and not just your own. Not only can God use you to bring hope to different countries and cultures, but it's amazing what you will learn from the people there. Yes, it's stepping outside of our comfort zone, and yes it requires sacrifice, however, the benefits tremendously outweigh the costs. The rest of the world is not like the United States and there is so much to learn from other people as well as experiencing the joy of ministering to them. Pray, pray hard that God would expand your spiritual horizon and world view. Pray He will help you see the world the way He sees the world. Pray to be used of God near and far and experience for yourself the joy of greater ministry.
Tuesday, June 16 I ask you to pray for the Joseph Alliance team traveling to Liberia, West Africa. We who are traveling go with great expectation of how God is going to move in such a great land with such great people who are recovering from 14 years of civil war. Liberia was founded by African-American slaves in the United States who returned to Africa to live in freedom. "Liberia" comes from the word liberty. Liberians are connected at the soul to African-Americans and deeply appreciate African-Americans who come to minister to them and to hear their story. They appreciate all who come regardless of race, but are especially glad when African-Americans come. The needs are great and many but the land is so ripe for a powerful, miraculous move of God. So, pray that the "team" led by founder and leader of Joseph Alliance, Dr. Laverne Stevens, will be tools in the hands of our awesome God through which His miraculous wonders may be made manifest among the people. Thank you for your prayers and I will give a brief update upon our return. May God bless each of you!

Greetings Saints,
Over the course of my life I could not begin to count the many classrooms I have sat in as a student. Classrooms through grade school, college, two graduate programs, one post graduate program, not to mention the many workshops for business, ministry, music and many more that have helped me and prepared me for life. I'm am indebted to the many teachers, professors, presenters and support staff that have given of themselves that I may have the benefit of their wisdom and their academic and professional excellence. From Sunday school teachers to Deans of institutions of higher learning, I have been blessed to sit under them and learn. I'm sure you can say the same. The many who have sought to give you instruction and direction in life did so because they cared. Some of us did very well in these settings, some average and some of us not so well. Yet, often even those who have performed very well in schools have been slow learners in another school. Life. Life's classrooms are many and some of the courses and their tests seem so hard at times. Life's teachers sometimes seem downright cruel with little if any hint of compassion. However, while at times this may seem true, it is also true that the problem is not always life's tough taskmasters but rather the reluctant, lazy, spoiled, complaining, undisciplined learner. When we refuse to learn, or think we can be our own instructor we're not going to do very well. It really does not matter if the life student is saved or unsaved. In fact some in the Body of Christ are the worst students because they believe the few scriptures they have learned is all they need. Not so. It is in the understanding and application of those scriptures that will give the student the necessary tools for life. However, how does one even learn how to apply those tools? Tools without an instructor to teach how to use them can be dangerous in the wrong hands. God of course sends pastors, teachers, preachers, prophets and others to instruct us. However, the greatest instructor is the Holy Spirit of God. He is our ultimate guide, counselor, teacher. To ignore Him is to ignore the creator and giver of all life. Submission to Him is our only true hope for gaining wisdom and power to not only survive but to thrive in this life. In other words life is made more difficult when we fail to submit to the leading of the Holy Spirit. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path. Be not wise in your own eyes..." (Prov. 3:5-7a). Spiritual maturity does not come by attending more and more workshops, although they have their place. It does not come by wearing a title or holding a certificate of completion from a school, though schools are necessary. No, it comes with the daily communion with and submission to the Holy Spirit. In Romans 8 Paul says "to be led by the flesh is death but to be led by the Spirit is life and peace." He is the best teacher I know. Seek Him, embrace Him, follow His leading and you will walk in divine wisdom.

Greetings All;
One of the disheartening things about our beloved world is that there are so many hungry and desperate people. Not enough food, water, security, shelter and resources for millions, even billions. This desperation has hit so many homes here in America. There has always been hurting, desperate people in America but with the economic meltdown we're experiencing, that sense of desperation has hit so many who thought themselves to be secure forever. Perhaps in all of the suffering and fear something of great value may surface. When there is nothing and no one else to turn to, perhaps America and many in the world will turn back to God. Perhaps the natural desperation that many feel will turn into a desperate hunger and cry for the living God. I'm not sure why it often takes difficult times for people to turn to the Lord. However, many, even in the church, who are not personally impacted by the current economic condition may yet find themselves still not having that sense of unquenchable need for a visitation from our Lord. It's amazing how close one can be drawn to God when times are tough. What's even more amazing is how close He has always been. It is we who so often don't recognize His divine presence. This economic drought will at some point end, at least for a season, but will that sense of desperation for His presence also end? One song writer wrote: "I need Thee, O I need Thee; Every hour I need Thee; O bless me now my Savior, I come to Thee." Whether you are directly effected by these tough times or not, is that your plea? God still feeds the hungry, not just those in need of food but those hungry for His presence. Even when it seems He can't be found, He is with you. You will find Him when you seek Him with your whole heart. "Every hour I need Thee....." May the peace of God be yours.

Peace and Blessings to you all.
In recent weeks I have been preaching/teaching about the importance of protecting and conditioning our minds (thoughts/imaginations), the importance of walking in the Spirit and the importance of taking care of and presenting our bodies as "living sacrifices." Here are just a few thoughts from this past Sunday's message "When the Fire Falls:" In Romans 12:1 Paul admonishes his followers at Rome to present their bodies as living sacrifices. Sin finds expression and fulfillment in the flesh. This is why in chapter 8 of Romans, Paul says: to be led by the flesh is death, but to be led by the Spirit is life and peace. It is in our flesh where battles rage between holiness and wickedness, a battle, I might add, which we all have lost. "We know all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God" (Rom. 3:23). This is precisely why we need a Savior. However, Paul indicates that this presenting of ourselves on the altar of God is our choice and responsibility. Interestingly, we often want and pray for the fire of God's anointing to fall on us without the presenting of ourselves in the position to receive. In the Pentateuch we find where God commanded the Israelites to present to God offerings (animal sacrifices) as a sin offering. The slaughtered animals (lamb, doves, pigeons) were laid on the altar in the Temple as a Burnt offering. When Solomon dedicated the Temple of God, 2 Chronicles 7 says "when Solomon finished praying fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the Lord filled the temple." If there is no burnt offering on the altar God's fire cannot come. We often want God's fire to fall in our temple (our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit), yet we stand beside the altar but refuse to get on. Beginning at verse 11 we see God answering Solomon's prayer, after fire fell on the burnt offering. Is it possible that the reason so many believers have no fire and seem to pray with little response from God is because we refuse to present ourselves as living sacrifices on the altar of God? Many have lost that sense of desperation for God. When you go to church, do you go expecting an encounter with God or do you go expecting to fellowship with friends? No burnt offering, no fire. Need revival in your life or in your church? True revival is not a result of human planning but is initiated and sustained by God. It comes to desperate people who are willing to present themselves as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable unto the Lord. This is your reasonable act of worship. Get on the altar of God, pray and let the fire of the Holy Ghost fall in your life.

Greeting Saints,
Remember some time ago I was applauding and at the same time lamenting over our dependence on technology? I noted then that technology, in its many forms can be wonderful tools to help us.......when it works. However, when our tech tools don't work it not only drives us crazy and leaves us frustrated, but also serves as a reminder of just how dependent we have become on them. Once again the computer I use to prepare my blogs is on the blink. I have therefore resorted to a rather non-traditional way to get my blogs to you. No matter how hard the computer gremlin tries, he will lose.
Well, TMI-ATL continues to grow. This past Wednesday in mid-week service, we were confronted with the great problem of having to find more chairs as the room was full. Sunday services have also been full. Granted we're talking about a relatively small room but these are good problems to have. Have I mentioned to you lately how good our God is? He can't help it, it's just His nature. In all things praise and bless Him and He will bless your life.
This new venture of beginning a ministry in unfamiliar territory has its challenges. The needs are great and plentiful but watching God's hand move on our behalf is simply amazing. We're learning so very much that may not have been learned any other way.
Recently I've been preaching/teaching on Sundays about who the Holy Spirit is and what He desires to do. In 2 Corinthians 12:14 the Apostle Paul gives a benediction at the conclusion of this letter. He says, "the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost be with you all. Amen." Here, the Greek word for communion is Koinonia. This word means to have very close, meaningful fellowship with someone. In this case it is not as peers having fellowship but rather the Greater with the lesser. The Holy Spirit (Greater) with us (lesser). Yet in this fellowship we find one who is our comforter, counselor, and guide. He is one who gives us wisdom and understanding in natural and spiritual matters and is one who holds us accountable. The word Koinonia also carries with it the connotation of one who is responsible for the other because of the bond of love. The Holy Spirit takes on responsibility for us, to help us do and become all that God has intended for us. Even the most casual of reading of the Gospels reveals that Jesus, in His humanity, could do little without the Holy Spirit. He was conceived in the womb of Mary by the Holy Spirit. His empowerment to heal the sick, perform miracles, raise the dead and Himself to be raised from the dead was done by the Spirit's power. Why was Jesus so effective? Because of the Koinonia within the Godhead, Father, Son and Holy Ghost as one. Jesus prayed on our behalf that we might share in this oneness in John 17:21-23. If you have already received Christ as Savior and Lord of your life, then seek the Holy Spirit. Invite Him into your life. In Luke 11:13 Jesus asks "how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask?" Invite the Holy Spirit into your heart. Seek Koinonia with Him and watch and experience a radical transformation take place in your life. "What a fellowship, what a joy divine leaning on the everlasting arms."

Greetings Saints,
Today is March 31. As of midnight I will no longer be the Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church, Main St. in Charlottesville, VA. After sixteen years God has now called Co-Pastor Gardenia and me to a new ministry field in Atlanta. It also marks the beginning of a transition season for First Baptist as they begin seeking the Lord for who their next leader shall be. I hope you will join me in praying for God's peace, power, protection, provision and prosperity over First Baptist. We pray that they will hear from God in choosing the next Pastor, and that they will show honor to God by the way they love and treat their Pastor even as the Pastor shows honor to God by the way he/she loves and leads the church. This past Sunday I preached my final sermon there as Pastor. It was a good service and it was so good to see everyone, especially those we had not seen in a very long time who returned for this service. Now I simply bid so-long.
Thank you for your continued prayers and support of Transformation Ministries International of Atlanta. I will keep you updated on the events and growth of this new ministry plant here in the Atlanta Metro area. I also ask your prayers for an upcoming missions trip to Liberia this summer. I will be going as a part of a team sponsored by The Joseph Alliance with founder Dr. LaVerne Hanes Stevens. I will share more specifics as we get closer to that June trip. Also, look for the launching of two new ministries this summer as a part of Dr. B. A. Beard Ministries. Lastly, I've begun work on my next CD project. I'm excited about this new music. I thank God for the inspiration for this new music. It will be awhile before it will be ready but it's coming along.

Greetings Saints,
Co-Pastor Dena and I are in Pittsburgh, PA on business this week. The trip also provides us with the blessing of seeing and spending time with family. This weekend we will be in Charlottesville, VA for my final sermon formally as Pastor of First Baptist Main Street. Pray for our safe travel and the delivering of God's Word on Sunday. If you will be in the Charlottesville area, stop in and worship with us at 9:30am Sunday, March 29th.
One portion of the message this past Sunday at TMI-ATL was taken from 1 Corinthians 13 which is commonly referred to as the "love" chapter. However, beginning at verse 8 and forward Paul states, "when I was a child I talked like a child, I thought like a child.....but when I became a man I put away childish things." Among other things, this text should remind the believer to grow-up from natural and spiritual immaturity. One only needs to spend but a few minutes in many of our churches and we are quickly confronted with immaturity. A small child thinks mainly of what he/she wants. The child might cry, throw a tantrum, complain or fight others to get what they want. Some grade school children will put down and mock others they don't like or agree with; they may brag that they have more candy, money or friends than someone else. But do we not hear adults, yes even believers throw adult tantrums, complain and fight others for what they want? Do we not hear adults mock, gossip on and put down others they don't like or agree with? Do we not hear adults, yes even believers, brag about their careers, money, position, education, homes, cars or who has the most members in their church? God has called us to maturity. The writer of Hebrews laments over the fact that he wants to feed the people the solid (mature) food of the Gospel but the people were still on, and still desiring milk. The church seems to be losing ground in many places because their focus is on the wrong things. God requires us to grow and mature even as Jesus grew from a child born in a stable to one worthy to be called King of Kings. Those who are worldly cannot be expected to grow past the incubator of the world's systems and principles. However, the child of God is expected to grow in the ways of the Lord, to be like Christ in character, integrity, love and personhood. We are to live by His Kingdom principles; principles which are far superior to the world's. "When I became a man (mature in Christ) I put away childish things." To grow up is to think unselfishly. To place the concern of others before your own. To love unconditionally and to give sacrificially. The Bible says God is Love. Love is a mature way. Paul says ".....now there are these three, faith, hope and love, but the greatest of these is love." Be real with God and yourself. Are you immature? Let God help you grow up into the "New" creature you are destined to be, and not just a reformed, but same old you. God and the world are waiting for you!

In Matthew 3:2 Jesus declares "Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!" Again, He declares "Seek first the Kingdom......." (Matt. 6:33). How can so many believers be in church but so far out of the Kingdom of God? There are perhaps a number of reasons. Certainly they cannot all here be addressed. However, let's consider the following. A church-minded church does not understand the principles of God's Kingdom because they are following the principles of the church, modeled after worldly principles. The result? according to Sunday Adelaja author of "Church Shift" the following will result: (1) Church in-fighting. We are the light of the world but too much light burns the eyes. When believers see ministry as what happens in church but does not understand the Kingdom mandate to transform the world (outside the church) then the church blinds each other with its own individual perceived glory, thus in-fighting. (2) Egocentric Leadership. Leaders become overly impressed with their own sense of importance rather than celebrating the importance of serving the Lord according to His principles. (3) There develops a focus on the size of the congregation rather than on advancing he Lord's work. (4) Egocentric Followers. The congregation becomes more concerned and consumed with what they want to hear in sermons, how the pastor and leaders gratify their personal needs and desires with little concern for what God desires. This is exactly why the Apostle warns the church to not be conform to the ways of the world but to be transformed by the renewing of their minds (Rom. 12:2). In other words, think the Word, Will and Ways of God and not the way of the world.
So how can believers live by the principles of God? Well, remember God's Kingdom principles are superior to the worlds. Honesty is greater than dishonesty, mercy is greater than vengeance and love is greater than hate. Positive, affirming talk is greater than negative, condemning talk. Jesus said to love our enemies, bless those who persecute you because His ways are superior. Paul said: "do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good" (Rom. 12:21).
Many believers don't fully reject the world's principles, rather they establish partial friendships with the world. Many gain influence in church by using kingdom of darkness principles. They use negative attitudes and talk, anger, disrespect for others, secrecy and so-on. The devil directs their actions without them realizing it. They believe they are, or should be in charge and actually believe they are doing God's work. In reality they are serving Satan. There needs to be a daily repentance from worldly thinking and practices.
The greatest way to begin to live by kingdom principles is summed up in the one word that easily describes all of the principles of the kingdom of God......LOVE! Love God, love people, love your enemies, Love conquers all!

Both Isaiah (Isa 52:7) and the Apostle Paul (Rom. 10:15) declare "how beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news (gospel). Joshua 14:9 says: So on that day Moses swore to me, "The land on which your feet have walked will be your inheritance and that of your children forever, because you have followed the Lord my God wholeheartedly. The feet of those who serve the Lord are precious to Him because their desire is to advance His Kingdom in the earth. Everywhere they go they carry God's Word and power. They carry the potential to reclaim territory that the enemy has stolen. Perhaps that is in part the reason the Apostle Paul was beaten three times with rods (2 Cor. 11:25). Beating with rods involved the Prosecution stripping the accused naked, binding them so they cannot move, laying them flat on the ground and then with rope, raising the victim's feet up. They would then beat the bottoms of their feet. Often, persons beat in such manner were left unable to walk. Paul was so excited about Christ that he walked to many areas to proclaim Jesus Christ and to advance His Kingdom. Beating his feet was an attempt to stop him from advancing the work of the Lord. However, Paul understood the need to reclaim the land for the cause of Christ. As ambassadors for Christ it is the calling of every believer to go into all the world. We are the church and therefore wherever we are, the church is there. Unfortunately, going outside of the walls of the church is of little concern for many in the body of Christ, not to mention going into all the world. We must never forget that we represent Christ everywhere we go. We also must be intentional in our resolve to reclaim the land for Christ.

It seems everyone is talking about the deep recession our nation and much of the world is experiencing. The concerns are justified. These are very difficult times. For so many this recession is a personal depression. All the network and cable news talent have opinions the argue to be the reason for the present crisis. Is this just the cycle of life? Is it bad business management, greed? Well certainly these are all contributing factors. But perhaps Jesus spoke to this very issue in Matthew 6:19-21 and 24. Here Jesus warns His hearers not to store-up treasures on earth which quickly depreciate, can be stolen and have no spiritual significance. Rather, "store up your treasures in Heaven..... For where your treasure is, there Will be your heart also." While America has been turning her national face away from the Lord in a number of ways and teaching her children there is no creation, America's love affair with things and immorality has seen a dramatic increase. When we operate with our own wisdom, logic and intellect we must examine the fruit of our work. The fruit of this trend has lead us into the crisis we are now facing. But when we live by the principles of God, what is the fruit? Sustained prosperity, protection and favor of God. Even when churches refuse to hear the voice of God because they refuse to operate by God's principles, they cannot produce fruit that glorifies God. When the fruit tree bears no fruit it is cut down. God does not desire to cut America and other nations down but if we listen closely we may hear Him ask, can you hear me now? The earth and the church is the Lord's which were to be governed by humans, called of God to govern by His Word. When this is rejected and those who sought to lead by His Kingdom principles are likewise rejected then no good fruit can grow. America, wake up! This is more than a Wall Street problem. Its a problem of exchanging the love and principles of God for man's foolishness peddled as wisdom. Repentance is a word many in and out of the church refuse to consider however, there is no sustainable peace unless one repents. When the nations repent and when the church truly receives her King peace and prosperity follow.

Imagine, statistics tell us that a woman is abused in the U.S. every nine seconds. Incredible and horrifying. Domestic violence where men are the perpetrators is certainly not the only form of abuse but is the most common. Men who have no sense of what manhood really is will seek to dominate, control, rape, verbally, emotionally and physically abuse. They may believe they have a right to abuse, they may have anger management issues, they may have been victims of abuse early in life or have other reasons for the abuse. NONE of the reasons are acceptable. A man who is emotionally weak finds a false sense of manhood by the way he dominates someone else. What are some tools used to dominate and control? Here are a few:

INTIMIDATION - Making your partner feel afraid by using threatening looks, actions and gestures. Smashing things when angry. Destroying her property. Abusing pets or showing weapons.
EMOTIONAL ABUSE - Calling her names. Humiliating her. Making her feel like everything is her fault. Always accusing her and making her feel bad about herself. Constant put-downs.
ISOLATION - Controlling where she goes, who she talks to, embarrassing her in front of other people, even friends. Limiting her contact with other people.
BLAMING & MINIMIZING - Saying she pushed him to the abuse. Claiming the abuse wasn't that bad. Claiming not to remember because he was drunk.
CLAIMING "MALE PRIVILEGE" - Using rigid definitions about his/her roles in the relationship. Treating her like a servant or his property. Making all the big decisions without her input.
USING THE KIDS - Threatening to take the kids away from her. Telling her how terrible of a mother she is when she is really a good mom. Talking bad about her to the kids.
ECONOMIC ABUSE - Making her ask for money because she can't have her own. Preventing her from getting a job or always causing problems for her on the job. Deliberately making her late for work until she gets fired. Taking her money. Not letting her know or have access to family income.
USING THREATS & COERCION - Threatening to, or carrying out a threat to hurt her. Making her do illegal things like selling drugs, write bad checks or prostitution. Threatening to leave her. Claiming he will kill himself and it will be her fault.
SEXUAL ABUSE - (One of the most common and most humiliating forms of abuse) - Forced to have sex against your will. Constantly being harassed for sex. Forced anal and/or oral sex. Made to video sex acts. Made to watch pornography. Forced to do things that are painful or dangerous. Forced to expose yourself. Forced to expose yourself in semi-public places. Forced into group sex, same sex, or wife swapping. Forced to have sex after a physical attack to "make-up." Being referred to in sexually derogatory ways. Having to listen to details of his sexual encounters with other women.

These are but a few ways in which abuse takes place. Most abuse goes unreported. Often it is not reported because of fear of further and more severe attacks. Other reasons include fear of not being able to financially make it without him, or being in love with him and believing he will change. Certainly there are many other reasons. ABUSE IN ANY FORM BY ANYBODY IS NEVER ACCEPTABLE. It violates every principle of God for human relationships. If you are currently a victim get help. There are centers in nearly every community to get help. Love yourself enough to not stay in that relationship. God will show you a way out. If abuse is in your past but you still struggle with the emotional pain, get in touch with a counselor. Many such services are free. If you are the abuser, God loves you and desires that you be delivered from the reasons why you abuse. Be a man and get some help. Remember, do unto others as you would have them do unto you!

Greetings all,
Times are indeed hard. For the nation and other nations of the world the economy is in a major recession, the worst since the great depression. However, for those who have lost jobs, looking for work while still having to pay bills and provide for families, it is a personal depression. National, state and local governments are scrambling to find the answer to turn the problem around. To add insult to injury, it seems some of those who caused the problem are indifferent to the suffering of so many. They take bail-out money and buy new corporate jets and contract for million dollar office remodeling projects. What can we do? Sorry, I don't have the expertise to suggest what must be done with fiscal policy. What I do know about is the power of exercising ones faith in prayer. I know, you've heard this before. There are countless books written on prayer, prayer conferences, prayer seminars and special prayer classes. But, with all of that, one thing often lacks, actually praying. Rather than simply lamenting over the economic crisis perhaps we should also seek what God is doing and saying to us during these difficult times. What is He saying to America, the world, to you? Whenever, life throws you a curve God is not caught off guard. He knew all the curves and issues of our lives even before the world began. We know how deeply He loves the world and gets no joy in our suffering. We also know that He could have prevented this and even now has the power to stop it. Since He did not prevent it from happening and thus far has not stopped it, why not? Is there something He is trying to show us or teach us? How can we know? PRAY. Prayer is not a chore, its not labor, it is a joy to seek the face of the God who loves us so very much, who only wants the best for us, who is always on our side. He may choose to allow difficult and uncertain times in our life to teach us, cause us to examine ourselves and repent where repentance is needed but its all because He loves us. What do you do when you don't know what to do? You know what to do, PRAY. "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and don't depend on your own understanding, but in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path."(Prov. 3:5,6)

Have you read the final words of Christ recorded by Matthew 28? What wonderful words of comfort when confronted with the uncertainties of life. Struggle to find ones path in life can often lead to feelings of isolation, doubt, frustration or even fear. This is especially true during times of uncertainty in the land and culture in which we live. When the evil one roars into our thoughts, if allowed, his roars will drown out the voice of our Lord reminding us that no matter what, He is with us. Yes, I know He is not now with us as He was with those we read about in Scripture, that is, in the flesh. However, He sends to us an exact image of Himself, one who is just like Him. This one has the same thoughts, intentions, power, authority and same intense love for us. We know Him as the Holy Spirit who is now and forever with us. Imagine, the full power, love, strength and image of God is with you right now! He offers His protection, provision, and access to the full measure of divine resources. He only asks that we trust Him and not the lies of the evil one. Trust Him regardless of what life circumstances may bring. The One who rose from the dead is with you by His Spirit and will empower you to overcome. He's never far away. He is with you even until the end of this age!

Hello Saints,
Blessings and peace be upon you. I was saddened to hear that the Northside Institutional Church of God in Christ in Pittsburgh was destroyed by fire Sunday night. Lola Thorpe is pastor and has been a great inspiration in my life and that of Rev. D. This is the second fire they have suffered. The first I believe, was in the 1980's. God blessed them following that first tragic fire and we stand in agreement with her and the congregation that a great blessing will come from this most recent fire. Usually, there are many people in the church on Sunday evenings but this past Sunday, because of weather, no one was there. Thank God for the bad weather that perhaps saved lives had people been there as normal. Please keep Pastor Thorpe and congregation in your prayers. On a more joyful note, Transforming Women in Christ, the women's ministry of TMI-ATL was launched this past Sunday. I am in awe of how excellently this ministry has been planned and organized under the leadership of Evangelist Katrina Cooks. We 're looking forward to the upcoming community wide conference on dealing with domestic violence sponsored by the women's ministry of TMI-ATL.
On another note, has the enemy's activities ever left you feeling frustrated, depressed, uncertain about the future? Ever feel like the lyrics of "Old Man River" when it says "I'm tired of living but afraid of dying"? Then be encouraged by Romans 16:20. That verse reminds us that if we have faith God will crush the enemy under our feet. Notice, GOD will crush Satan under OUR feet. Without going into the details of Paul's referring to how Roman soldiers would stomp and crush enemies and even citizens of areas they were conquering. They would stomp them while wearing shoes with spikes on the soles. If we take a stand against the enemies strategies, trusting in God's strength, we will be victorious in crushing the depression, negative thoughts, frustration, lack and all Satan attempts to do. Be of good cheer! God will make your enemies your footstool.

Modern Technology. Its amazing what technology can do. I recently saw a science program which was previewing near future technologies which is amazing and some of it a bit scary. Thing is......technology is only beneficial when it works. I haven't blogged in a couple of weeks because the computer I use (my wife's laptop) needed a new motherboard. My laptop won't connect to the "net" although it is certainly equipped to do so. So my wife Gardenia and I have been Internet and e-mail MIA in recent weeks. Since my last blog we have witnessed the inauguration of our first African-American President. He is more than qualified and stands ready to lead our nation into a new era. Please pray for him and his family for great success and protection from all harm. Together we can make a real difference. Also, on January 19th we celebrated the life, work and ministry of Dr. Martin L. King. How wonderful, if not prophetic fulfillment, that this celebration was just one day before President Obama took the oath of office. And, since my last blog I informed TMFBC that I would be officially resigning as Pastor after sixteen years of service, effective March 31, 2009. During the weeks prior to that date i will be working with a great leadership group there to prepare for the season of transition to come. As most who follow my blog may know we are planting a new church start in the Atlanta metro area. Transformation Ministries International of Atlanta. There will be more TMI ministries in the future. Seasons Greetings, Saints!
The gospel accounts of the birth of our Lord Jesus are simply fascinating. For some they are too strange to be believable. How can someone be born to a virgin? That defies logic, physics and biology. But then again, what is there that God can't do? If you can believe that God created the universe, then why couldn't He defy the physics and biology He created to save His highest creation on earth, humans? Atheists, agnostics and some theologians share the same skepticism about the circumstances surrounding the birth of Christ. If all humans exist because of the sexual union between a man and woman, or at least male sperm fertilizing a female egg, then how could Jesus be an exception to that? May I offer at least one alternative thought? The Apostle Paul in Romans 3:23 says that "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." We are essentially born in sin because of the sin choice of the first humans. The "seed" of sin is passed on from generation to generation. No one escapes. Since sin is a violation of the relationship God desires to have with us, then sin must have righteous judgment. God, who is holy, will have relationship only with that which is also holy. Sin made us unholy. Joseph was a good man but not sinless. Mary likewise was a good and blessed woman but not sinless. "All have sinned......" If the seed of a man who is not perfect were to fertilize the seed of a woman not perfect, you produce just another sinner incapable of saving themselves. If Jesus was a product of the seed of Joseph, he may have been a good man, but a man also in need of salvation. The Gospel of John chapter one refers to Jesus as the Word of God that became flesh (John 1:14). Mary gave Him his humanity; He was born of a woman. As the Word of God He could not bleed, feel physical pain and suffer as humans know suffering. To become the "Sacrificial Lamb" He had to become as we are yet without sin. Through Mary he gained His humanity, but her egg fertilized by the Holy Spirit gave Him His divinity. As a result Jesus became 100% God and 100% human all in one. He therefore became the perfect redeemer. He could take our sins because He had no sin of His own for which He had to pay. Through one man, Adam, we all were plunged into sin, but because of the one man, Christ Jesus, all are redeemed who accept His salvation and receive Him as Lord. While this defies human logic, it also makes perfect sense. God in His great love came to us in Christ. We sinned and therefore deserve the judgement to be eternally separated from God, but God so loved the world that Jesus received our punishment upon Himself so that the requirements of God's law is met and we can be united with God forever. Wow! How great is that? This is why we celebrate the birth of Jesus. Had He not come we would still be lost with no hope of peace and salvation. Christmas is not a secular holiday as is claimed. Without Christ what is being celebrated? Gifts? The stores would be happy. Good feelings? Feeling good about what? Office parties and trees and lights for what if not for Christ? Instead of good feelings for the holidays, how about "Joy to the World the Lord has come, Let Earth receive her King!"

Time. What an incredibly interesting phenomenon. Your senses can't discern it. You can't hear, smell, taste, see or touch it. It has no life, no spirit and yet governs all that we do in one way or the other. We see its affect in the aging process. We divide it up into categories. Seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years, decades, centuries, generations, etc. In fact an Olympic athlete may win the hundred yard dash by 1/100th of a second. Some nations of the world may use a different measure for time as in counting years. For some it is 2008 but for others it is 5000-something. We use three broad categories in which we make reference to time, the past, present and future. The past can never be reclaimed or relived, the present is the exact moment and the future is only an non-experienced possibility not yet made manifest. The only past we really know is our own personal past we have experienced. All other past events are taught us by someone else. The past will often influence our present and perhaps our future. But we cannot live in the past. We have the exact current moment and a hope for future possibilities. We cannot, with all our human knowledge and accomplishments, control the future. We can prepare for it, we can influence it and in some sense shape it, but we cannot control it. Time submits to no one except God who alone controls it. Time, which is temporal, must yield to God who is eternal. While we cannot control time, God through His wisdom and grace grants us the ability to not allow time to rule us. We can make it a useful tool and advocate, or we can make time our adversary. Since we cannot return to the past, we can take the lessons of the past and use them to strengthen us and makes us wiser as we move into the future. To not learn those lessons can cause our future to be no better, and perhaps worse than the past. To have that brighter future may mean that there are things in our past that we will need to let go of for good. These may be things, or even people or situations that have become dear to us or even security for us. But to get to where God wants us to achieve, and to get what God wants us to have, we sometimes have to "Let go and let God." Though time is fleeting, based primarily on the earth's daily rotation on its axis and annual revolution around the sun, it is clear, time waits for no one. The writer of Ecclesiastes declares that there is a time (season) for everything under the sun, including a time to be born, a time to live, a time to die. By God's grace, use your time wisely. We have but a few fleeting moments and then comes eternity. Learn from your past, take hold of your future as you live out God's plan and not time's plan for your life.

Seasons Greetings?
Is it me or does it at least seem like the Advent season (the season leading up to Christmas) can be an especially difficult season? Often we hear of deaths, tragedies, layoffs, unable to find employment, and now with a bad economy many being forced out of their homes. 'tis the season to be jolly? I have discovered over the course of my life that this "joyful" season can be especially hurtful, depressing and at least uncertain. Of course there is the added expectation of buying everyone gifts and going to Christmas dinner parties and office secret pals and bosses or staff to buy for. Oh, and by the way your paycheck (if you have one) has not increased and expenses are higher and ...... oh yeah, its cold in most places, cloudy and.... Enough! All of this in preparation for the celebrating of the birth of our Lord Jesus the Christ. Still searching for a reason to celebrate in your home? Still searching for that joyful, jolly spirit? Yes! there is reason to rejoice because Christ has come. Can you imagine if there was no hope of salvation, no forgiveness of sin, no promise of provision, no divine purpose and plan for your life? Perhaps this season can be difficult because many in America have forgotten about Christ. He is often only allowed to participate in this season, designed to honor Him, as a Point of Sale advertisement to get the consumer to buy products. In most other ways He is excluded. Turn to Christ, America! Jesus is not a Republican although some have tried to use Him for their campaigns. He is not a Democrat nor has all Democrats rejected Him. No one owns Him and He plays no favorites. He is Lord and Lord of all. When He died, He died for all and desires that no one perish for eternity. He gives us the chance to receive His salvation which He paid for in His own blood because of His great love for us. Perhaps this season often seems difficult because trial often precedes triumph. Before Jesus began His ministry He was lead by the Holy Spirit into the wilderness (wild-erness), a wild, challenging place where He fasted (did not eat) for forty days and then was severely tested by Satan himself. But when that season was over, Jesus who up until then had never performed a miracle or healed the sick came out of the wilderness with great power (Luke 4). Trial before triumph. Or, how about the Hebrews freed from Egyptian slavery spending forty years in the wilderness before crossing into the Promised Land? You get the point. So in spite of how bleak the economic forecast and regardless of the personal difficulties you may be facing...rejoice! God has not forsaken you but may be simply preparing you for His promise for you. Christ has come, the Holy Spirit fills, guides, provides and protects and Christ is coming again to reclaim those who have received Him. Yes, 'tis the season to be jolly, now and always!

Happy Thanksgiving!
Today we pause as a nation to say thanks for our blessings. This holiday began as Americas thanked God for bringing them through very difficult times. Today I'm not so sure to whom or what many Americans are thankful. It's likely that many are not really thankful to anyone at all. Today for some is just a day to be off work, perhaps share a good meal, spend time talking with family and friends or perhaps to watch the many college and NFL games on TV. But for many others there is an acute awareness that life itself is a gift given by God alone. It is God who made us, keeps us, redeemed us and is preparing us for eternal life in His Kingdom. Survival is not possible without our God and King. We recognize that everyday we must give thanks. Today we pause, a day set aside but let us always give thanks. The apostle Paul wrote to the Ephesians in chapter 5 and verses19 and 20: "....speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the LORD giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our LORD Jesus Christ..." So as you cook, eat and fellowship do pause to give our LORD thanks for His bountiful blessings always. And when today draws to a close get ready to thank Him again tomorrow and everyday for His goodness, grace, provision, mercy, forgiveness and relentless love towards us. Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Standing, standing, standing on the Promises of God. I remember as a youngster singing that song so many times in church. The melody even now flows through my mind from time to time. I used to watch as the eyes of some of the senior members of the congregation would well-up with tears while singing. I didn't understand why some were so moved. As time and life have unfolded I've begun to understand their tears. Those saints had experience with God. They knew times when all they had was a promise. Over the years I too have had seasons when there was not much else to hold on to but God's promise. But then, isn't that all we really need? What else is there? When God makes a promise His name is on the line. His Word is so mighty that there is no power in all of creation, seen and unseen, that can overcome it. When God said "let there be......" there was the undeniable promise that there would be...... because He said so. The promises God has spoken over you for each season of your life are unstoppable. The most effective weapon against His promise is lack of faith. Lack of faith does not overtake the promise but only renders us unable to receive it. The promise remains but we may miss it when we don't trust Him. So what do you do in the face of uncertainty, fear, doubt and the nay-sayers? Stand! Stand on what the Lord our God has for you, even if you're not sure what it might be. What you can know for sure is that He loves you, cares for you, wants only the best for you, and has a wonderful plan for your life. You know He will never leave you and that He remains your source of peace, healing, provision and protection. So why not "trust in the Lord with all your heart and don't depend on your own understanding, and in all your ways acknowledge Him first and He will direct your paths." Just stand on the promises of God!

I solicit your prayers for our dear friend and brother in the Lord you have heard me mention many times before. Pastor Mohan Rao from India. We received word that this wonderful man of God and his beloved wife lost their only child, a daughter, due to an unfortunate accident. She was finishing school and preparing to attend college next year. Rev. Steve Stevens and I had the chance meet her while in India a few years ago when she was about 10 years old. She has such a wonderfully sweet spirit. While we know she is with the Lord and in His care, I am certain that Pastor Rao and his wife are simply heart-broken. Their faith remains strong but surely they are in pain. Please remember them in your prayers. Until next time may our King richly bless you.

Greetings Saints
Just this past Sunday, November 9, Rev. Gardenia and I were so blessed to take part in the 145 church anniversary of First Baptist Church (TMFBC) in Charlottesville Va. What a long and powerful history of a determined people, inspired and empowered by God to Transform central Virginia. Congratulations TMFBC. We also had the joy of sharing in the birthday celebration of Annie Merritt, 94 , who we call the mother of the church. She still drives herself and others to where they need to go. She visits the sick, serves in the church soup kitchen feeding the hungry, prepares communion and rarely misses church or Bible Study on Fridays at noon. She got much yet to do and while we applaud her longevity we even more so celebrate her love and commitment to God, her family, her church.

During these awful economic times, many are losing jobs, homes, cars, giving up their dreams of a college education and much more. Leading economic forecasters tells us to expect things to only worsen. Is God trying to tell us something? Could it be that He is allowing or even causing this downturn because He loves us? Strange huh? Well, there is no way for us to know for sure. What we believers do know is that no matter what the circumstance God desires only His best for us. Sometimes His best comes in ways we don't like or even understand. Remember, His ways and thoughts are not like ours. His understanding is far, far greater than ours. What is the answer to all that's happening in the world? Its a name. A name that the U.S.A. seems to have exchanged for political correctness and social relativism. Jesus. Pray that in the midst of all this uncertainty there is a fresh, unstoppable wave of revival that flows over the land. Could that really happen? It could if it starts with you! If you pray and seek His face while others begin to do the same then God promises to hear our prayer and heal the land. Join with me in praying for our nation each Wednesday evening during dinner time while fasting that meal. You may pray and fast for other things like the congregation of TMI-ATL fasts for the ministry, but please pray for our nation that we will hear and turn back to our Lord. God's peace, power and provision be yours.

God is Good!
Congratulations to First Baptist Church, Charlottesville (Main St.) for 145 years of advancing the Kingdom of God and the agenda of our king in Central Virginia. It is amazing how God could move on the hearts of a people, held in legal bondage as slaves, to not allow their spirits to be held in bondage. Rather, in spite of their physical condition, they held onto their faith in a God who sets the captives free. Through some of the most difficult years in race relations in Virginia they stood as strong towers who refused to give up their dignity, integrity and their faith. That same strength is evident to this day. From the vibrancy and diligence of the senior saints, to the very youngest who refuse to sell-out to contemporary pop-culture, First Baptist remains strong. Its hard to imagine what Central Virginia would be like if it were not for the impact and witness of First Baptist over these many years. In 145 years, the church has seen good days and bad. Its had its ups and downs, challenges and victories, and remains a stronghold of faith and belief in the power of our God. God has been faithful to First Baptist, and First Baptist has been faithful to God. The future looks bright, though often seemingly uncertain. What is certain is that God who began a good work there will see it to completion until the day of our Lord's return. There are currently persons all across America and beyond who have been a part of, or impacted by the ministry of First Baptist. There remains countless unknown names and yet to be seen faces that will find salvation in Christ and whose lives will be transformed by the ministry of First Baptist. Join with me in congratulating this great church for 145 years of service to the Kingdom of our LORD.

Greetings Saints,
Just an update. TMI-ATL just celebrated eight weeks of ministry. While much has been accomplished to lay the foundational structure of the church, much remains to be done. The services have been up-lifting, spirit-filled with a lively, family oriented fellowship among the members and visitors. The first new sound system was used for the first time this past Sunday, whew! The staff is beginning to search the area for a semi-permanent place of worship. I recently met with Mayor Moore of Union City to get a greater sense of the area and the needs of the community where the ministry may make an impact. Remember, services are being held in Fairburn, Georgia but the current ministry area will cover the cities of Fairburn, Union City, Tyrone, Peachtree and Fayetteville, though not limited to those areas. This general geographical area includes a wide range of persons from different socio-economic backgrounds. Several former UVA students have come to visit who now live in the Atlanta area. The next challenge is to begin to get the word out that TMI-ATL is here. While word-of-mouth info has begun to spread, there has been no real concerted effort to get the word out until the ministry foundation was fairly solid. Now that there has been great progress in building the foundation, speading information about TMI will go fourth in a very intentional way. Needless to say, many are making huge sacrifices to fulfill this move of God. I ask you to pray that God will provide not only for the needs of the ministry as a whole, but for all the individuals working so hard to be faithful to our Lord's calling here. As you might imagine, the needs are many and great, but it's been so amazing to watch how God has been moving. I think we all are learning and experiencing new dimensions of God's ways and greatness. Perhaps that's been the most exciting thing of all. There is something about launching out into the deep where you get a glimpse of depths that faith can take you. As time goes on I'll bring more updates. If we touch and agree, at least when it comes to doing our Lord's Will and advancing His Kingdom, then He will answer our prayers and He will receive all glory. May God bless each of you richly.

If the question were asked "do you love the Lord?" many, if not most of you would answer with a resounding yes! How about, have you ever been upset with God? Have you questioned His love for you? Has He, who promised to never leave you, seemed out of your reach? If you've ever felt that way it brings a whole other set of emotions. You feel you shouldn't be disappointed with God yet you are. You may feel guilty for questioning His love for you, but you do question. Often we will rehearse any past or recent sin and conclude that this is why God seems to not be speaking to us. However, you know that He forgives sin and you know that Jesus died to redeem us but you still think surely this is the reason God seems so distant. What an emotional roller coaster. Have you come to the conclusion that since God is not talking to you, you just won't talk to Him? Bad move. Remember Jacob who had stolen his older brother's birth right and then later deceived his father and stole his brother's blessing from their father? He ran for his life believing that his brother was going to kill him. When his brother caught up with him, Jacob sent gifts hoping to soften Esau's heart. The night before they were to meet Jacob wrestled with a man all night and refused to let go of this divine Being unless he blessed him. Though this divine One touched Jacob's hip, knocking it out of socket, Jacob still held on. The man declared that Jacob would no longer be called by his name Jacob (deceiver), but now he would be called Israel for he wrestled with God and prevailed. Of course the Lord could have taken Jacob out at any time in the natural but Jacob prevailed in showing the Lord how desperate he was for him. Though he done much that was wrong, he refused to let go of the Lord. Who else is going to heal you and bless you? Who else has you future in their hands? If God seems silent and out of reach perhaps its just a test. Will you all the more reach out for Him and NOT let go? God really does love you and no, He is not angry with you. He only wants what is for your best. Seek Him and He will be found. Find Him and never let go and our very good God will bless you.

Do you ever wonder if you could really make an impact on others' lives? Could you impact a few? What about dozens or hundreds, thousands? How about a billion people? So often when we think of ourselves, we don't see the potential that God has placed in us to impact the lives of others. We may feel we don't have the right connections or enough education. We may feel that where and how we were raised has proven more of a handicap than anything else. We often neglect to remember that we were created in the image of the creator of the universe(s) seen and unseen. How great is our God and how able He is to do great things through us, even if we don't see ourselves as having much to offer. A couple of weeks ago I met a man named George Verwer. An unassuming man in what I would guess to be his late sixties or early seventies. The occasion of our meeting was an anniversary celebration for an organization called Operation Mobilization. During the celebration I learned some interesting things about George. In 1957, while a college student in Chicago, he got this crazy idea to go to Mexico to hand out gospel tracks and share the gospel. He managed to convince two friends to go with him. Driving an old beat-up vehicle, they managed to get there after about a two week trip. They didn't know what to expect, where they would stay or how they would eat. They just wanted to share the gospel of Jesus. Crazy right? I'd say so, except in spite of all they had to endure, they wanted to continue to share the gospel there and elsewhere, and managed to convince even more friends to go with them. As I sat during the program celebrating 50 years of missions work, I was in awe to discover that George and his crazy idea had thus far resulted in over ONE BILLION people around the world receiving the good news of our Lord Jesus. Currently, there are over 5,500 missionaries from OM on every continent in the world. Many are risking their lives, and a few have died or been arrested for sharing God's Word. Some are in particular danger in places like Iran or parts of India. OM also has four former cruise ships that stop in many ports around the world. Millions, yes, millions have come on-board these boats, and by the time they exit, their lives are not the same. They have learned about Jesus and His incredible love and saving grace. Because of George and his impulsive, crazy idea to go to Mexico in 1957, 50 years later over one sixth of the world's population has heard the Gospel. By the way, you know that of the 5,500 on the mission fields, and even the staff in the U.S. and U.K. headquarters, none get paid! They raise their own support. So, what have you done for the Lord lately? Still think you have nothing to offer? Neither did George, but look how God has used him. We met before the program began. He was introduced to me as the founder, though at that moment I had no idea that OM was as huge as it is. As George and I talked, he never told me what he had done. He did not try to impress me with his accomplishments. He was just George, a slender built man with a huge heart and crazy in love with God. Can you make a difference? Of course. Even if you are in the business of underestimating yourself, never underestimate the God in you. Remember, God often chooses the low, the weak, the common, the ignoble to do great things. Just surrender who and what you are to God and let the work that He does through you speak for you.

Blessings All,
I was thinking about the economic troubles our nation is going through and the fear of a global economic meltdown. At the same time we are fighting two wars while dealing with a host of natural disasters. And of course there is the on-going tragedy of violence in our streets and a younger generation where many are just confused about life and their own identity. Increasing numbers of our youth are engaging in very adult behaviors. Most of those behaviors are not healthy for adults either. Are these cultural maladies mere reflections of a national spiritual illness? I, for one, would answer yes. However, it also indicates that there is a serious spiritual virus that has weakened the witness of the church. I'm certain that we all can think of a multitude of problems facing the church. If the church therefore, is weak, its not surprising that the culture, our nation is growing weak. At first glance it may seem that all will get only worse. Certainly that is a possibility. IS there a Balm in Gilead? Is there a healing salve? Of course, His name Jesus. The question however, is will He be the Lord of the church again and will the church regain its voice to declare Him Lord of All? If He is not Lord of the church then who will show Him to the world? Who will lead the world to His healing salve? "....how can they hear without a preacher?" All the presidential candidates have been talking about change. Real change will come when revival comes to the church. When a people, desperately in love with our Lord, cry out to Him, things will change. "....If my people who are called by my name, would humble themselves and pray, seek my face and turn from their wicked ways then I will hear from Heaven and I WILL heal their land." Pray for revival in our nation.
I am writing this blog while in Virginia at TMFBC. The ministry here is going great. Thank God for a team of hard working, committed lovers of God who believe the best is yet to come. Pray for TMFBC, TMI-ATL and the people of God every where. Next week I'll tell you about a wonderful group of international missionaries I've been so blessed to meet. Their story and impact is amazing. Over one billion people, yes BILLION have received the Gospel because of this group.

Blessings to all who belong to our Lord around the world:
Isn't it amazing that you belong to a family that stretches around the world and who speak nearly every language know to mankind? The family of believers are from every continent in the world. How blessed are we to be called God's very own. By our simple faith in Jesus Christ we become a part of God's Kingdom, yes, even God's family. A Kingdom that encompasses the universe and dimensions, seen and unseen. In the last few years, so many have been impacted by Rick Warren's book "The Purpose Driven Church." That book has truly blessed many. This past Sunday, however, I preached a message entitled "The Presence Driven Church." It was about people who are driven, hungry for God's presence. Without that burning desire for Him, one's purpose, and even the church's purpose cannot fully be realized. He desires our intimacy with Him. When we seek after Him, all else will be added. King David said, "one thing that I desire of the Lord and that will I seek after, that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life..." (Psalm 27:4a). The one most important desire he had was to dwell in the presence of God. Is that your primary desire? If it is, what if God says OK, I'll honor your request and then the next thing He does is take you into the wilderness? No common support system, no job, none of the usual comforts and an uncertain future (Hosea chapter 2:14). But what better place to really know God than when there is no one else you can depend on? If you read further in the Hosea account, you begin to see that great blessings follow the wilderness. I shared a few examples from scripture of those who had such wilderness seasons and how God did such great things in, through and for them afterwards. Strangely, according to research, half or more "born again believers" have been so influenced by culture or political correctness that they miss the voice of God inviting them into the wilderness where He can minister to them alone. Don't dismiss an opportunity for greater intimacy with God because He may call you into a wilderness season. Like David, let the one thing you desire of the Lord be a hunger for His Divine presence in your life.

Pray for TMI-ATL. The needs are many, but resources are few. We know God will provide, but He usually provides through others. Pray for TMFBC in Virginia; all is going well, but likewise much is needed to prepare for the next level of ministry God has in store there. Pray for our nation and its leaders. What a mess! Maybe somebody in D.C. will hear God speaking. May our Lord keep each of you in His love, care and provision, and may we honor Him by being one in Him. Peace.

What would you give for just one moment in the presence of God without limits? Christian book sales are at an all time high. Many spend hundreds, even thousands of dollars each year going to Christian conferences, conventions and workshops seeking to hear the latest well-known speakers and presenters sharing the most clever, contemporary ideas of what it means to be a deep Christian who is able to walk in power and favor of God. Some of these gatherings can indeed be worth the effort and expense it takes to get there. They can be inspiring and instructional for those who attend. However, no endless pursuit of these gatherings can be a substitute for the most effective avenues into God's presence. Prayer, which costs nothing but time, and study of God's Word, which is only the cost of a Bible or Internet connection. All else may help us know more about God, but nothing is as effective as the authentic, passionate, desperate pursuit of a heart hungry for His presence. "SEEK FIRST the Kingdom of God........" are words spoken by our Lord that, if taken to heart, go beyond things being added, or even forgiveness being added. Seeking a God who is not hiding, and who wants us to discover His burning desire for us to become one with Him, is to discover what it means to live in His presence. As we discover living in His presence, all other concerns, issues, others' opinions of you mean very little. You are freed to love everyone without the need for their affirmation.
Trust in the Lord with ALL your heart...and He will direct your path.

Please pray for our governmental leaders that they will hear and follow the voice of God in guiding our nation through these very difficult economic times. Pray that God will lead the way.

Do you believe that you are growing in the Lord? Do you sense the favor of God moving within? How do you measure your growth? Some base growth on how much more information they get for themselves from books or workshops or sermons, which is truly necessary for growth. On the other hand, that alone could prove to move you further away from God without realizing what happened. Remember the Pharisees? Very highly educated religious leaders in the time of Jesus, but were so far away from Him, they did not recognize Him and were partly responsible for His death. Does praying more draw you closer to God? That sure will help, unless the prayers are routine and empty. Who or what do you most pray for? Do you pray for yourself more than others? Do you believe you'll draw closer to our Lord by doing religious or church duties? The Scripture never teaches that ministry is just doing religious or church duties. Again, remember the Pharisees? The Disciples of Jesus were not very well educated, and perhaps not very pious in fulfilling religious duties. What our Lord most looks for are those who will sacrifice their own desires for God's desire for their lives. He looks for those who are much more concerned about serving others rather than serving themselves. He looks for those who will give to the least among us, without the expectation of what will be done in turn for themselves. He searches for those who would be in relationship with Him. But how can two walk together unless they agree? In order for us to walk with the Lord, we must agree with Him. Agreement is like-mindedness. Agreement is seeing the world and its people through His eyes. It's our hearts beating in rhythm with His. He loves everyone. He gives sacrificially (He gave His own Son). He reaches to the least among us. He cares for the hurting, the wounded, the broken, the poor, the sick, the frightened, the troubled. He thinks more of what He can do for us rather than what we will do for Him. He does not treat us according to what our sins deserve, but goes beyond giving for our good, what we have not and could not earn. To experience His favor is to walk with Him. To walk with Him is to be in agreement with Him. To be in agreement with Him requires the denial of self for the love, support, benefit and good of others. Deny yourself, take up your cross (daily) and follow him. This can be a hurtful path as the world, even many in the church and many of its leaders may turn from you. But what joy to pray for them and serve them because your walking with the Lord.
Please pray for those who have lost so much in the storm called Ike and the storms that came before. Help them in a tangible way if you can. Pray for those who are in the midst of their private storms, that God will bring them through. Pray for our nation and its current, and soon new leadership, that they will hear from God and lead His way, and not the way of political correctness. Seek God while he may be found and he will direct your way.
Pray for our brothers and sisters in India who are suffering increased persecution. Pray for Africa that its many nations will become one nation under God. Pray for Europe which is rapidly becoming a land void of God. I'll be praying for you all, that you will walk ever closer to our great Lord.

PEACE & GRACE TO ALL
The first service of Transformation Ministries International of Atlanta was such a wonderful blessing. The small room rented at the Wyndum by Wingate Hotel was full. Some we knew would be there and some we could not have known. One thing for sure, we all were blessed by the fellowship of the Holy Spirit and the fellowship of one another. It was also good that in this first service we shared communion together. The table of our Lord has a way of bonding His people in such a powerful way. It was great to see faces familiar and some for the first time. God showed Himself and confirmed His word that this ministry is His doing. All necessary operational and administrative responsibilities are being fulfilled and should find completion for this phase of the start-up soon. A number of persons are working diligently, sacrificially and with excellence, to fulfill all that needs to be completed. Of course, as the major items are completed they will be given to the Board of Directors for ratification.
As God spoke through a message at TMFBC - Charlottesville, Virginia at the beginning of this year, He declared that this would be a year of shifting, shaking, transitioning and transforming. It indeed has proven to be just that for so many. But God is so faithful and so good that, if we refuse to give in to fear and uncertainty and remain as the Apostle Paul declared in First Corinthians 15, "...be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord...," then we will see in the shift such wonders of God that from the very core of our being will well up stronghold-destroying praise. Saints, you are blessed, held by our King's mighty right hand. No matter how things appear, remember we walk by faith, not by sight. I remember when I was in management at a large soft drink company before going away to seminary and into full-time ministry. We had a company Christmas party for upper management. There was a magician there who walked through the crowd performing very close in the midst of everyone. He was so close you could easily touch him. Even that close, our eyes deceived us because his illusions were so good that we had to rely on common sense to remind us that it was not possible for him to do what it clearly appeared to our eyes he was doing. It looked real to the eye. Things in life appear one way but is often another. So we walk by faith. Circumstances may appear devastating and insurmountable, but in reality God has already prepared the answer. In fact, what appears scary or feels hurtful may be a testing of your faith and a set-up for a great blessing on the way. Our God is too good and too faithful to let you go! Feel the excitement of what God is doing in your life. Don't wait to see it, now is a good time to praise Him.

Greetings Saints,
How good it is when the people of God worship and fellowship with each other. Since my last posting Rev. "D" and I have been blessed to spend time with family and friends in Pittsburgh and Charlottesville. This past week in Charlottesville, we had a great time of sharing at TMFBC. Three were baptised and several came to Christ and/or joined the church. It was good to see that the ministry is going well under good, devoted leadership. The formal CD release of "Now Is Our Time," my first music CD, was also a great time of fellowship and sharing. I'm excited about the response to this project in Pittsburgh and Virginia. Now it appears that interest is growing in other places. You can now purchase a copy at http://www.drbabeard.com/. You can also get them at the Macedonia Bookstore in Pittsburgh, and soon at Plan 9 music stores in Virginia and North Carolina. As other outlets are certain I will let you know. Pray that our God is pleased and glorified in this and that its hearers will enjoy it. That has been my primary goal.
There is nothing as good as fellowship with God and with God's people. Jesus put it this way: ".....love the Lord with all your heart, mind and soul and love your neighbor as your self." All of the commandments and the heart of our Lord's intention for mankind can be summed up in these few words. The devotees of God should never be satisfied with anything less. How do we know when we are in the will of God? Well, there may be a number of ways but certainly how we are living up to these two basic commands speaks volumes about our relationship with God. Since Christ has declared these to be basic to our faith we must seek their fulfillment in every area of our lives. It does not mean that there will always be agreement on every issue, but no matter what, our love for God and each other must always prevail. How is your prayer life? How often are you speaking and submitting to God in prayer? How many of your life decisions or ministry and job decisions are made only after spending time with God and submitting to His answers. How much time is spent studying God's written word, the Bible? How often do you pray for others rather than for yourself, including those who don't care for you? These are indicators of our commitment to God and each other. How generous are you with your time and resources for the benefit of others? God loves a cheerful and generous giver. Our faith is not the completion of duties but rather a hunger for God, love for God and love for all humanity. It is being able to feel the hurts of others and seek to help show them a way out. It is rejoicing in the blessings and success of others and not jealous of them. It is loving the lost so much that you desire to do all you can to lead them to salvation in Christ Jesus. Our love for God and others is demonstrated in our asking what more we can do to bless others. We will never go wrong by seeking to do more rather than less. God will bless the open hand, not the closed fist, because the open hand is the nature of God.
Well, the time has come for the first service of Transformation Ministries International of Atlanta. Sunday September 7 at 11:00am will begin the ministry here. The goal of the ministry in brief is to love God and love our neighbor. Pray for the success of the ministry as the Lord may define its success. Pray for the resources of people, spiritual gifts and talents, financing, administration and tools to carry out this work, all in abundance. No ministry should be limited in its ability to minister because of lack. The spirit of lack can only get a hold of us if we are not moving forward in the will, work and word of God.
Remember that we love you and are praying for you all no matter where you may be in the world. May the joy of the Lord be yours.

I am writing to you from the "Burgh," Pittsburgh. I had the privilege of preaching two of the three services at Macedonia Church. That is the home church of Pastor Gardenia and I. Macedonia is a great church of approx. 3500 with a great pastor Jason Barr. As many of you may know, he suffered a brain aneurysm nearly a year ago. While he continues to suffer with some short term memory loss, it is amazing to see how God is restoring him. He now preaches two services regularly and continues to travel across the country preaching. He was also a featured preacher at the Hampton Ministers Conference. Please continue to pray for him, his wife Kim and son Jason as well as the Macedonia family. It was also great to see Brian Edmonds who is a former member of TMFBC, our church in Charlottesville Virginia. He was a student at the University of Virginia while in Charlottesville. He received his Master of Divinity degree from Duke where he met his new bride, and is now on staff at Macedonia and doing an outstanding job.
We're getting a chance to see family and friends which is a great feeling. Many have heard and are excited about my new CD which will be formally released in Charlottesville Saturday, August 30. Again, I am so very grateful to all who participated in making this CD a reality. On August 31st I will preach at TMFBC. The following Sunday, September 7th will be the first service of Transformation Ministries International of Atlanta, to be held at the Wingate by Wyndham Hotel on Rt 74 in Fairburn, Georgia. We are expecting a great time in the Lord and are looking forward to what God will do in this ministry venture. Please pray for TMFBC and TMI-ATL that God through these ministries will reach many lives and transform them into the likeness of our Lord. The challenges are great but our Lord is greater. In Him we place our full trust. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding but in all your ways acknowledge him and He will direct your path.
May God shower each of you with His love, grace and provision.

Greetings Beloved,

It's amazing how God confirms His word. As I was sitting in the sanctuary of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church listening to Bishop Eddie Long, I was distracted by too many thoughts concerning our new ministry start here in Atlanta. So many things to consider, to plan, to do. I was reflecting how quickly things are moving here while I'm still seeking for the well-being of TMFBC in Charlottesville, VA, along with our well qualified staff there. I was enjoying the service but was feeling a bit low within myself. I won't go into much detail about what happened but in brief, I was hoping God would speak to me some how to reassure me that I was yet following His Will. Near the very end of service as Bishop was preaching and walking through the congregation, moving toward the back of the sanctuary he stopped and tapped me on my shoulder, took a few more steps toward the back, stopped and ran up to the pulpit to read a scripture he had not planned on reading. Guess what? That unplanned scripture spoke directly to my situation. God will use whatever method he chooses to to encourage, train, comfort and advance his word in the hearts and lives of his people. When feeling unsure, discouraged, distracted just know that if you ask, God will confirm His Word in your life. It may not be how you might expect but let your faith trust in the awesome power of God's Word and grace.
Much is coming together as we gear up for the first service. We have been surveying much of the Union City, Fairburn, Tyrone and Peachtree City areas. While there are a number of churches, the territory is very ripe for ministry. The area population is growing, there seems to be a hunger for, and appreciation for ministry, and excitement is growing for the ministry God is calling us to establish. The land seems good, the word is getting out and we're expecting great things in the Lord. The web-site for the ministry is under construction and should be up in the near future.
Finally, the release of "Now Is Our Time," my first music CD will be held in Charlottesville, at the Holiday Inn Hotel on Rt. 29 (next to Exxon and across from Kroger) at Hydraulic Rd. The release event will begin at 2:00pm until 4:00pm on Saturday August 30th, which also happens to be Rev. "D" and I's 22nd wedding anniversary. I will be signing copies for those who come. Events are being planned for a couple of other states as well. I am so grateful for all who contributed to this becoming a reality. This is the first of what I hope will be many more. My own ministry web-site is also under construction (not the one for the new church). From that site you will also be able to purchase the CD through PayPal. That will be ready very soon. I'll let you know when. The site will contain other ministry helps, articles, information on workshops and conferences and how to purchase other products. In all things my prayer is that God will be glorified, God's people will be blessed. I look forward to seeing everyone on Sunday, August 31st at TMFBC. I'll be preaching. Greetings Beloved of God,

Today I was thinking about why it is that so many in the American church seems to approach "church" with little passion, little expectation, a negative/judgemental spirit and passive hope. Is it because our culture of plenty has increasingly conditioned us to be unimpressed with much of anything, including a Spirit led service or move of God? Is it because God has increasingly turned his face away? Perhaps it's a lack of understanding of what is our Lord's calling for the church. I suspect we could identify any number of reasons. However, perhaps the most devastating of all reasons is a loss of the joy of the Lord. Rejoicing in the Lord at all times is evidence of a deep love, relationship and commitment to Him and His kingdom. Remember, Nehemiah declared in chapter 8:10 ".......the joy of the Lord is your strength." No matter what seems to be going on in your life, be it good times or not, rejoice in the Lord always, again I say rejoice (from the Apostle Paul). If you haven't had it for a while, get your joy back!

Plans continue in preparation for the the first service of Transformation Ministries International - Atlanta. Specific details are being outlined not only for the first service but also for short term and long term goal setting. Ministry infrastructure is being defined as well as the development of a marketing strategy. Please pray for God's wisdom, guidance and favor as these efforts continue.

"Now Is Our Time" the long anticipated CD project is soon to be released. The release date will be on August 30 in Charlottesville, Virginia. The exact location and time has been determined. However, since the contract is yet to be signed I will wait until my next posting to officially let you know where and when. My prayer before beginning this project is that our God would be glorified and that the hearers would be blessed. This continues to be my prayer and that God would show favor in this effort. So, get the word out that the CD release is coming soon.
The next day I will be preaching at TMFBC. We will be so happy to see everyone that Rev. "D" and have been missing so very much. I continue to be so proud of our leadership team and congregation that continues to worship and serve with such excellence and unity. I truly believe that we will all be amazed at how God moves in TMFBC and the great future that lies ahead.

Please pray for Pastor Otis Spellman whose wife recently went home to be with the Lord after a long illness. Pray also for our dear friend and brother, Pastor Mohan Rao who will soon travel to the U.S. from India. Pray that God will grant him traveling grace and great favor while here.

Rev. Gardenia ("Rev. D") and I are in the Atlanta area. The first couple of days have been busy while we get organized in our living arrangements and trying to get some very much needed rest. We still have not caught up on the rest part but hopefully we'll get there soon. The weather has been hot but very nice. The mailing address for Transformation Ministries International and for Rev. Peace and Grace to you all,

Did I mention recently how fast time seems to fly by? Well, here we are already, moving day. Thursday, July 31 is the actual day that Rev. Gardenia (Rev. "D") and I will be traveling to Georgia to begin our 6 month sabbatical period. While sabbatical means a season of rest, I'm certain we won't get much of that. There is a tremendous amount of work that must be done to begin the planting our our extended ministry in Atlanta. There is a rather aggressive time schedule to complete the next phases of this work. I expect that we will be set to hold the first worship service on the first Sunday in September. That is only one month away. The location is in Fairburn Georgia, just south of Hartsfield-Jackson Airport. I'll give more specifics in up-coming blogs.
I am so very proud of our leadership team in Charlottesville Virginia (TMFBC) who has done so much and who are committed to doing all they can to lead and steer the ministry here in my absence. Likewise, I am so proud of our congregation that has been so encouraging and supportive doing this great move of our Lord. I feel confident that the ministry will suffer no loss, only gain in this season of change and expansion. TMFBC, like those of us in Georgia need your prayers, encouragement and support. I have the full expectation that the Charlottesville ministry will not miss a beat, but will continue to grow in Spirit, truth, financing and numbers. TMFBC has provided great leadership in the Charlottesville community and beyond and I know will continue to do so. Our television broadcast on NBC 29 will continue as usual. If you happen to live in the broadcast area, continue to tune in at 6:00am Sunday mornings and tell your friends we're still on and we will continue to be on.
Well, I must hasten away from my computer for now. Packing (ugh!). But, look forward to next weeks blog from ATL. Pray for our safe travel and may our Lord's rich love, favor, power and provision be with you all. A special hello to our dear sister Clair who served here but is now in New Zealand which is her home.

Greetings Saints,
It seems so amazing at how fast time seems to fly. Since my last entry I received great news that my brother Eugene (Happy) C. Beard Jr. has been called to serve as pastor at the Triune Baptist Church in Wilkinsburg, PA, which is a suburb of Pittsburgh. Our prayers are with him in this new ministry venture. We are excited to see what God will do.

I want to say hello to my friend and brother Pastor Mohan Rao in India. We are so proud of the great work he continues to do for the kingdom of God. He has planted several churches and a few years ago opened a discipleship training center, ministry for orphans and widows and a medical center. We praise God for his great work. Also, we continue to pray for our good friend and Brother Bishop Pobe in Ghana, West Africa. Bishop does such great work that so many are blessed and coming to the Lord because of his great ministry.

As we prepare for our ministry expansion I have been so proud of our Ministry of Elders, Senior Associate Minister and Chair of our Deacon Ministry, as well as many other leaders who have stayed the course in what is an exciting but challenging time. We are so thankful for the vast majority of our congregation who see the vision and support this great move of our God. While we recognize this is a season of adjustment, our faith declares the wonders of God and are excited to see what He does. Pray for our churches in Charlottesville and the new church start in Georgia and for the new ministries yet in the future. We have received inquiries about the TMI network from other existing ministries who are praying about joining the network. In all things our prayer is that God is pleased and glorified and that God's people, in many places, will be blessed because of this next phase in God's plan and vision.

Many years ago when I first gave the Lord my life, I made the Lord a promise: "I'll go where you say go and I'll do what you say do." That remains my promise. Our King never promised that it would all be easy, He did not promise that people would always understand or be supportive. The twelve disciples were brutally treated and most killed for following the direction of Christ. Steven was stoned and Paul often beaten and thrown in jail for seeking to follow the Lord's requirement to advance His Kingdom. And of course, even Jesus was harshly treated and killed by those who knew the letter of the Law but not the Spirit of the Law. Often these harsh events were at the hands of the people of God who were not evil people, but people who were not spiritually minded. As a result, they deemed the very things that were of God, as evil. Even Christ who stood before them as Savior, they saw as a threat that needed to be destroyed. Often people fear what they fail to understand. Whenever you determine to follow the direction of our Lord for your life, don't become frustrated or give in to hurt. The Evil one recognizes that God is doing something in you and will try to discourage you. But, don't fret. Our King has promised to be with you. Neither should you despise those who come against you. Jesus declared, Father forgive them for they know not what they do. Our Lord says to pray for them who despise and misuse you. Your focus is to do the will of our Lord who called you. Nothing else really matters.

Saints of God, be encouraged. God is with you and your future is bright! Just trust the Lord and behold His wonders. God Bless each of you.

Greetings in the thrill of serving our Lord,

Since my last blog, much has taken place as our Lord continues to lead us, bless us and enlarge our territory. We have seen the ordination of six new deacons here at TMFBC. They are Dorothy Brown, D.W. Crickenberger, Darnell Glover, Earl Hicks, Shirley Johnson and Patricia Moody. They have studied and labored through a challenging training process and have more than successfully completed their training responsibilities. Pray for them as they now begin to serve as Deacons in this progressive and expanding ministry.

Since my last blog entry Rev. Gardenia and I shared with the entire congregation that we will be going to Atlanta for a six month sabbatical period to lay the foundation of our church plant there. Our Ministry of Elders, Senior Associate Minister and Chair of the Ministry of Deacons will serve as the primary leadership team in our absence. We will make periodic return visits to meet with our leadership, to preach, teach and fellowship. We are all committed to see this wonderful move of God to its fulfillment. Future church plants and the development of the TMI network will be an ongoing prayer request and a topic of information given through this blog, the TMFBC web-site and the TMI web-site. Your prayers and support are greatly appreciated.

My music CD project is in duplication and I will announce soon when they will be available for purchase. Look for and pray for "Now Is Our Time" project that God will be glorified, and its listeners would be blessed.

Remember, without faith it is impossible to please God. God requires our trust, faithfulness and dedication which will lead to our understanding. However, even before we can see what God is doing and understand why He is doing it, "we walk by faith and not by sight."

May our King enrich your life with His very best for you.

Greetings saints of God,

We just celebrated our nations independence day but how awesome and incredible it is that our ultimate independence has been won by our soon to return King Jesus. My prayer for each of you is that our God who is forever faithful will fill every need and make path to your fulfilled potential smooth.

To update you on our ministry expansion, I will be taking a six month sabbatical as Rev. Elder, Gardenia (Rev. "D") and I will go to Atlanta to plant Transformation Ministries International - Atlanta. There is a team of former TMFBC (Transformation Ministries First Baptist Church) members who now live throughout the Atlanta area. The possibilities are endless for what we are believing God will do there and in future church plants. TMFBC will continue in the hands of what I believe are some of The Kingdoms best leaders. Our congregation is committed to the vision and to TMFBC and I fully expect that things will continue with excellence in our absence. Rev. "D" and I will make regular return visits but will also keep close contact with our leaders as well as the congregation through several uses of technology. We certainly solicit your prayers during this time of transition and powerful move of God.

Pray for Rev. Joe Jackson, a former associate minister here at TMFBC and his wife Keisa who recently learned that their infant son has a form of cancer. We are believing God for complete healing of Joe Jr. God will be glorified even in this.

Greetings Saints,

I apologize that this post is a few hours late in coming. I'm not sure what the problem was but I was not able to log onto my own blog for several hours. Hopefully that problem has been fixed. While trying to find out what happened, I discovered that readers need to open a Google account to read my blog. By my next posting I will see if that can be changed so that there will be no need to open an account just read and respond to my blogs. It may require a blog address change. If so, I'll certainly inform you. Fortunately, this was all discovered early so any kinks can be worked out.

Thank you to those who have posted responses. Each response has been meaningful and encouraging. It was great to hear from good friends and supporters near and all the way from the other side of the world.

God's goodness is nothing less than amazing. Our Lord often moves in sudden shifts and changes where we may find ourselves off balance because the sudden movement catches us off guard and at times, defies logic. Still other times and perhaps more often, God moves in simple, small steps. Each step may be so small that we can't discern the movement, and yet, we're moving all the time. Small steps don't mean slow steps. We can be moving very quickly into the next stages of our Lord's unfolding plan but because each step is small we may not discern the movement. As a new day begins and we go about our daily routine, we don't feel the movement of the earth beneath us and yet this large world is rapidly spinning around, while zooming around the sun, while our solar system and galaxy fly through space. Isn't it amazing that if it were not for the setting of the sun or the changing to a new year we would not have known we were moving at all. So it is with God. We may be speedily moving in God's plan for our lives and we're not even aware until we notice that something has changed. Some things we may never understand but if we take a stand in Christ, He guarantees we will reach our destiny. God will not deny His promise to those who trust Him.

Praise the Lord. The CD project is near completion! Fifteen songs of original music which will be full of surprises. The studio work is nearly done and then only the duplicating need be completed. Some local store will have them available but for you who live in other states or outside the U.S. I'll be letting you know how you can get one. I hope you will support this effort. The proceeds will help fund our new church starts in other areas.

Greetings in the thrill of serving our Lord,

It is with great joy that I launch Transforming Your World blog beginning with today's posting. It is my intention that this be one tool to stay in touch with so many friends and partners who share in the vision of the Transformation Ministries International network. For those who are not familiar with us, let me share some brief information.
Transformation Ministries International is a non-denominational network of ministries which does and will include new church starts in the U.S. and abroad and currently existing ministries ready for a change. The goal is that participating ministries can have an opportunity to encourage, assist and hold each other accountable so that each can be better equipped to fulfill God's unique calling for that ministry. Each ministry is independent and is not under the authority of T.M.I. but agrees to a common vision and agrees to its principles. It is clear that the "church" in America, Europe and other nations in the world is in decline or has marginal impact on the communities they serve. At least one reason is that many Christians view Christianity as just one of many religious options available to us. Christianity however, was never intended to be just another religion. Jesus declares, "I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father but through me" (Jn. 14:6). It is through Christ we enter relationship with the Father, not through our own human effort (religion). Religion is mankind's' attempt to reach God through our traditions, works, and ideas. But the Christian faith recognizes that it was God who is the initiator of our salvation. God came to us through the Christ (Jn 3:16). T.M.I. 's goal is to aid in re-introducing the Body of Christ and non-believers to an understanding of God's desire for relationship rather than religion. The "world" has defined us as just one religion out of many to reach God and far too many believers have embraced this definition. This definition we reject. We serve a kingdom, God's kingdom, not religion.
Through this blog I will inform, share ideas, give updates on projects and seek your feedback which I highly value.
